Guess Brett's hurt pretty bad...and Morrow's almost ready.

Our lineup could be worse than some of the lineups in AAA.

Cecil = Garbage. Good riddance!

He's been given more than enough chances to prove he can pitch in the big leagues. The HR's and BB's have been his detriment.

Mostly due to injuries, this team is becoming ridiculous, hehe. Kinda fun seeing all these young guys come up, even if they aren't ready to produce in the majors.
Good Lord, the little stoner's got a point.

How is Hech at the plate compared to Gose? Equally not ready?

Tonight's lineup will probably feature Hech, Gomes, Cooper, Sierra, and Gose. That's 5/9ths of the lineup made up by guys who started the year in triple-A.

Given his age, more ready. Right now has a better understanding at the plate combined with his insane glove.

hey sensi, farrel asked him to play 3rd base instead of gomes. makes sense now?

i persoanlly don't like asking a minor leaguer to play a position he hasn't before. i'd put visquel at third, hech at 2b and yunel at ss. kj can play dh

Hech will show off his glove, but will disappoint with the bat! I just hope he doesn't struggle as bad as Gose.

Hech will be fine at 3rd defensively, it just sucks his bat doesn't project to play any other position but SS.

I agree. He should be more complete offensively than Gose (I'd say Gose wins in plate vision though) and good defensively but age is an important thing to remember.

Gose has like 2+ years to learn how to gain .020 points of BA

I would prefer Cecil over Laffey, but i guess Cecil is giving up WAY to many homeruns.

EDIT: Laffey better be the next domino to fall back into AAA.
If Happ and Romero can be decent pitchers, a rotation of Morrow/Romero/Henderson/Villi/Happ, could be pretty good.

I don't mind Cecil in the pen as a left handed specialist. He puts up Jansen like numbers against LHP, their OBP is only .225 (Jansen .222). If you moved him to the pen that would go down because relievers have shorter outings and can put more velo on pitches (and don't need to preserve stamina).

I wouldn't have sent him down and tried to keep him as a starter. I'd let him do what he does best.

Agree with this post, Cecil is brutal against righties he should be reduced to loogy in the pen instead of Vegas.

A LOOGY has significantly less value than a below average starter. Cecil should still be given the chance to figure out how to stop allowing home runs. The payoff is too high to ignore; it's the equivalent of selling low.

Below average starters have more value if you are building a Houston type team. If you want to compete in the AL East you need a championship caliber team. Cecil can be a LOOGY on the best team in the league and still fill out his role well. Not every team can field a below average starter and make playoffs.

I know relievers are worth significantly less than starters but at the same time if we start Cecil in a relief role now and start collecting positive WAR now it's better than spinning our wheels for another 2 years then doing the same thing. To maximize his career effectiveness a move to the bullpen might be in order.

Chances are we will sign at least 1 SP better than Cecil this offseason.
1. Morrow
2. Romero
3. FA pitcher
4. Henderson
5. Drew Hutch/McGowan/Drabek (whoever proves they can pitch)

Instead of Cecil MAYBE being a decent 5th starter why not clear up the spot for someone who can do a better job and still have Cecil contribute.

To me it's a no brainer.

EDIT: Rzepczynki was worth 1 fWAR as a LOOGY in 2011.
