Opinion: Gose/Hech are fools gold

I honestly think this.... Our two prized hitters need to be delt while value is high
Anthony Gose has a superstar's speed and defense but he has always been a sub par hitter and likely wont change. He is a better version of Rajai Davis. I wont be surprised if he is a an all out bust from what everyone expects from him..... JAYS dont need a CF with Rasmus being so young and I see Sierra and ultimatley Marisnick being better than Gose anyway.
Hechavaria cant be a full out bust cause he isent expecting to do much other than play defense. However, JAYS have a solid and better SS in Escobar and moving Hech dosent make sense, cause 2B are normally much better hitters. His value will die in as short as 1 season there.
Gose and Hech are two VERY valuable trade chips and Jays will likely let them play it out and lose their value. After which point they will be average players on the JAYS roster.
AA is gonna make a move for Piching this offseason.... I much rather lose one of these guys as compared to say either Syndergaard/Sanches/Nicholini/Norris.

They've never been prized hitters, they're still trying to figure that part out.
Both of them need more time in the minors , at this point Davis is a better option than Gose, and Hech can't make enough contact to be a major league hitter.
Be patient with them, if they can figure a few things out at the plate their value would be much better and if they don't, it can't be much worse than the way they're currently hitting.

TDA is our "prized hitter." The two aforementioned players are our "prized defenders."

If Gose's bat doesn't improve they have to let him try pitching (like Sergio Santos). The only difference is that he'd have the abilty to PR and play CF defence.
They could litteraly make him an everyday player as a reserve.
RP/CF
A guy who can pitch 90+ MPH and steal bases.
This would be more ideal in the NL where the pitcher is already in the batting order, there would be no sacrafise of the DH if he were to go to the mound for an inning, play CF for 2 innings, and then return to the mound.
I know managers are worried about pitchers doing something other than pitching, but shouldn't they take the outside the box approach?
If you had 2 players on your roster that could pitch, PR (and steal bases), and play positional defence. Your roster would be more like a 27 man roster instead of 25. ONce again the idea is better suited for the NL. but could work if you have a power lineup in the AL.

He won't be with this team by the time he fails as a hitter. Santos failed as a minor leaguer. Gose didn't.

all their value is on them being really good prospects.... as soon as they lose their prospect status they will be nothing
i mean not only are they likely gonna fail, but the JAYS just happen to have better options at their position anyway. Moving them makes too much sense this offseason.
if AA wants a good pitcher, he will have to give up a good prospect.... look how much it cost to get Happ

Wow, ready to write-off a 22 and 23 year old with very limited experience.
You may very well be right and all that they never reach their potential but it's way too early to 'write them off'. Does that mean we shouldn't explore trades for them? Absolutely not if the deal is right.
And as solid a season Rasmus has had, a .240 average, 20 HR and 66 RBI shouldn't guarantee him a spot either and say we should start moving out prospects behind him.
Same for Escobar who's having a down year. .245 average with 7 HR and 38 RBI's.
Both players provide great defense but there is nothing that says both should be locks to stick around either.

even if gose is avg hitter, he could be fastest player with best outfield arm in baseball...hech has steady stance and simple swing with great defense and arm...both have tons of potential still

As soon as I got to "prized hitters" you lost all credibility as far as I'm concerned.

Gose has a cannon for an arm? Why have I not seen this yet?

Probably not a good idea to have both starting next year if we want to win... Plus Hech needs to play SS to maximize value and same with Gose in CF! That's where both those guys bats project to play.
