ouch. guess we won't see em until mid-summer 2013 at the earliest. this is a bit of a surprise because he seems like an honest, humble, hardworking kid by all accounts. i mean, not like those attributes mean much when talking about PEDs but...why? hopefully it's a case of not knowing rather than trying to gain an upper hand.

Wonder which 50 games... Could they promote him for September and then he sits out most of his suspension? The minor league season begins later than the major league season, too. So 50 games in which league?

Damn this is sad. No one saw this one coming at all. Hopefully he can bounce back from after his 50 game suspension or he serves no use to us after being a bargain signing for slot money.

Not trying to defend him 'cause I won't be surprised if he was juicing intentionally, but based on that picture of his dad, which I thought of immediately on seeing the topic, it wouldn't be the least bit surprising if his dad gave him some bad advice about supplements (based on his physique I'd be willing to bet he considers himself an expert). Maybe that's not what happened at all or maybe they were working together to try and get around the system, but he wouldn't be the first kid to take some poor advice from a parent.

Either way, I stopped getting pissed at the kids getting caught. If you're like 35+ and have had a good/great career, then get off the stage and don't ruin your reputation, but the guys breaking in... well I don't think it's smart, but I don't feel any kind of anger anyway, maybe pity, but that's not quite right either. It's just a shame he'll get tagged with this his whole career regardless of the circumstances surrounding it (and again, that's not meant as a defense, he may very well deserve it).

It may be a banned substance in Canada but it's widely available in the US. There's a lot of different weight loss products that contain it.

That being said you have to know what you're putting in your body. There's an IOC seal available on a lot of supplements and if you're using those, you're pretty much ok.

Since this is a stimulant and not a steroid, I don't see how this leads to a pattern of PED abuse for him. Likely didn't read a label. Now he gets to sit half a year. I wonder if the Jays will pay him or not.

haha, as soon as I saw the picture of his dad, I said to my self, "that dude is totally juicing".

Glad I'm not a professional athlete because I was just working out with my friend and he gave me a pre-workout drink containing this substance. It just gives you extra energy, and was only recently included in the banned list. I wouldn't consider this "juicing" because to me that's reserved for testosterone and anabolic steroids, but rules are rules. Tough luck for Stroman.

I don't think he will. If he becomes a successful MLB pitcher in the future, nobody will remember or care about this. And if he doesn't become a successful MLB pitcher, nobody will care about him anyway.
