Would you accept, A-Rod to Toronto?

ok, this will never happen but just for the curiosity, say if the Yankees wanted nothing to do with Alex Rodriguez and decided to basically give him away and chew up most of his salary in the process. Kinda like they did with AJ Burnnet to the Pirates.

say they decide to eat up most of his salary. its about 30 million per for 5 more seasons. Would you support the JAYS taking him on at a rate of say 11-12 million per season with NY paying the rest? He would ofcourse be the full time DH for the next 5 years.

what are the pros? what are the cons?....... what is your opinion?

Rodriguez is on a seriously rapid decline. I'd rather have Alfonso Soriano as a full time DH than A-Rod.

Nope, bat speed has slowed down to the point where hes no longer really that valuable. It would just be a sideshow. Plus Blue Jays wouldn't take kindly to A-Rod playing here(anyone remember the incident where A-Roid was rounding 3rd base and yelled something, causing our 3b to miss the ball)

No he's the yankees cross to bear. Rest of MLB is sticking him to the Yanks as an example of the dangers of inflated salaries to over the hill players. Heck the signs were there he was on a strong decline when he signed that deal to begin with. His market value was maybe half the money the yanks gave anyway... who the heck were they bidding against?

Is A-Rod going to pitch 200+ innings for us next season?

Include "and have a sub 4 ERA?"

Rodriguez is owed 114 million on his contract, and in the playoffs he's looked like he's done. The answer is a resounding no.

This is yet more evidence that these 10-year contracts to players in their 30's is just stupid, unless of course you have an infinite payroll. The Pujols and Fielder contracts will very likely look horrible in a few years too, especially Fielder's.

No as a player and a big no to the money he is owed.

A-Rod can't even focus on baseball during a playoff game...the Jays should stay as far away from him as possible...

Even if the Yankees paid his entire salary while he played for the Jays I wouldn't want him. Since he's given up the PEDs he's not the great player he once was and he's a damn suck. Don't want his influence around any of our core guys.

It won't happen regardless, but if they ate enough of his deal - and enough would be a lot, like 9 figures a lot - then, even if he is a giant douche, of course I'd take him.

IMO if the Yanks do pull the trigger (they won't) and eat a chunk of salary MIA or LAD or someone is going to get a solid year or two out of him. Getting booted out of town will get him focused on his HR chase and you can hate on the guy all you like but he is/was insanely talented and athletically gifted. There are far worse bets out there in the FA market than an over the hill ARod. Still, it's all moot as a pure dump goes outside the division first of all and the Jays would never lead the market for how much of his salary to eat anyway.

I see no gain whatsoever for the Jays, even if NYK paid his entire salary. Aside from questions of what he has left in the tank from an on-field perspective, his off-field antics are just a huge distraction a young team doesn't need.
