Pretty interesting interview with John Buck on the Jeff Blair Show
http://www.sportsnet.ca/590/2012/11/21/ ... eff_blair/

Talks about how excited he is to be back and how he's talked to the guys about playing in Toronto.
They were asking him what it's like playing here and asking questions about customs and things
of that nature. He said they will love it said it's like playing for the Yankees x a whole country.
Said when the Jays play in Seattle and Detroit its like a home game for them they were like
really? Bucks like ya its cool you'll love it.

Also talks about how talented and underrated Bonifacio is and how he found out about the trade
plus some other stuff. Worth listening to if you got 10 minutes to kill.

Was talking to my buddy about this yesterday afternoon after the interview. Think it was pretty telling why a lot of free agents choose any other U.S. city over Toronto. It was probably a good thing Buck was included in the deal because by the sounds of it, he really sold Toronto to the rest of the crew.

I listened to the interview as well and was surprised at his comments. You dont hear these kinds of comments very often.

As annoying as it was to see Buck playing over JPA that September, supposedly to meet a promise AA made to his agent, it's nice to see that what goes around, comes around (in a good way).

The Jays fulfill their promises, the Marlins don't.

This alone is worth trading for him. Something like this is rare and great for us.

Apparently Josh Johnsons wife was not to keen on Toronto but was convinced by Mrs. Frank Thomas :blank:

She probably thinks she'll have to live in an igloo and get around town on a snowmobile.

Sometimes I wonder if these Americans have even an elementary school education.

I think the issue is that people don't think of Toronto as a city when they first hear they are being traded there. Their first reaction is that they are moving to Canada. And with that, comes all the stereotypes they've heard about it. Once they get here and realize Toronto is a normal Metropolitan city, they settle down and get on with their lives. Usually this stuff blows over after a couple of weeks. It's nice that we're not looking at this angle anymore whereas last week, the media was basically showing all three of these guys out the door before they'd even played a game because of the fear of coming to Canada.

Good to see Buck is putting in a good word on behalf of Toronto. Once they get here though white Vegas sells itself.

Most of their impressions of cities are from movies and tv shows (non-existent for toronto). Hence they dont have clear impression of what Toronto is like. Insert usual rumours of huge snowstorms, igloos, polar bears, whale fat popsicles etc.

Remember when AA kept his promise to play Buck the full season? Karma isn't always a bitch.
