"Touch 'em all, Joe! You'll never hit a bigger home run in your life!"

Almost brings a tear to my eye.
Cheers to my favourite baseball announcer of all-time.

He was great and I'm glad he's in, but the best part for me is the bolded part. I got very tired of the annual Frick drive and thank the lord it's over.

Congrats!

yeah this kinda gives me the chills. crazy to think about it at the time...that when this inning started and the jays down by a run, that 13 minutes later they would be WS champs for the 2nd straight year.

tom cheek is a legend and it's about time time he was elected. listening to that voice brings back a ton of memories riding in the back of the brown aerostar. what a heavenly voice by a man who was born to call this game.

I was listening to the FAN on the way home (around 730-745) and Jeff Sammut had Jerry Howarth on talking about his days with Cheek. He told a great story about how Cheek's last half inning came during the season opener in 2005 against the Rays. The Jays had gone 9 up and 9 down and Cheek showed up in the booth and asked to call the 4th. The first at-bat he called, the Jays tied it on a homer, and two batters later had the lead. That was Cheek's final inning ever.

Then, some time after Cheek had passed away, his son was at a game and joined Jerry in the booth in the 4th inning. Again the Jays were down and during that inning, Bengie Molina pulled a 3-run shot down the left field line that hit the Tom Cheek sign of excellence. The son said that's how he knew his dad was still looking down upon the Jays.

Had me pretty choked up there at the end of the story. Jerry's always a great interview and that was one of the best and most genuine I've heard in a very, very long time.

I have lots of great memories listening to Tom and Jerry on the radio. To this day I catch most of the games on radio... there's something about baseball and radio that just fits...

A well deserved award to Tom and his family.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

A long time coming, and well deserved.

Baseball on the radio, sun, beer, and BBQ = total comfort zone for me.

I've got to admit, I'm too young to really remember the glory days, and therefore Tom Cheek at his best, but I do remember hearing him call games, and man was he good at it!

This is LONG overdue. Congratulations to the Cheek family!

It was long overdue but at least he's getting this recognition. Good news for Tom, but too bad it was posthumous.
