More than seven years after his death, Tom Cheek will be honoured by halls of fame on both sides of the 49th parallel.

The legendary Toronto Blue Jays broadcaster is one of five 2013 inductees to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in St. Marys, Ont. The class also includes former Montreal Expo Tim Raines, former Blue Jay George Bell, former Blue Jay and Expo Rob Ducey and Vancouver baseball activist Nat Bailey.

Cheek was voted into the broadcasters’ wing of the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. and will be honoured on induction weekend in July.

The Canadian hall will hold its induction ceremony on Saturday, June 29. A selection committee chooses inductees based on their contribution to Canadian baseball.

I'll probably go to that induction ceremony. For anyone who hasn't been it's a pretty good visity. There's a softball tournament the week of the induction and anyone can sign up for a pretty low price (until it's sold out). It would be cool to play ball with Tim Raines or George Bell.
