Granted, the article is about Roy Halladay, whos deviation from one season to the next ranks right below Ricky's as one of the worst since '47.

A few interesting points of note;

The very fact that Romero ranks highly on this list, implies that he once was a very good talent...where did it disappear to?

Roy can blame his decline on age, and the fact that he's been a workhorse forever, and for a long time was considered the "Ace of Aces."

Ricky is coming into what should be the best years of his career. He was one of the better pitchers in the AL, though never an Ace. Where did it all go wrong?

Can Ricky fix himself, and fulfil the potential that he once showed?

One big name on the list, Zack Greinke, is there mostly become of the phenomenal season he had (10.1 WAR)

In my mind, the most interesting bit of info there is that most of those guys didn't continue to decline and had a bounceback year after their major decline seasons.

Bunning and Hunter were the only ones to continue to decline, however. Johnny Sain bounced back with 2 WAR, Javier Vazquez 2.7, Esteban Loaiza 3.6, and Mike Moore 4.4 in the ensuing season.

What bothers me about that list is Esteban Loaiza is on it. Not because he doesn't belong on it. But because I'm always bothered when reading or hearing Loaiza's name. Hate that guy.

Romero had and should still have good stuff. People are jumping on the "He was always overrated!" bandwagon right now, but he was never overrated to the point that he was a sucky pitcher who was getting lucky. I think the problems are all in his head.

Yup, that was the first thing that I looked for too. Especially the guys that were closer to RR's age, most of them bounced back to a decent level. I would think that in most of these cases, a career year made the decline look much worse than it normally would have and I would guess that that part of the equation will be no different with Ricky.

I am wondering if the collapse has due to breakup with Ms. America. Loaiza was amazing as a sox then was traded to yankees and fall apart

Were those guys who improved still working on their delivery point near the end of spring training? Best on that list has got to be coke man Dwight Gooden. What a season.
