No reason why we can't sweep, but I'll say 3-1.

can't predict **** with this team. I just hope the bats wake up and the starters continue to pitch like we expect.

One reason: Buerhle

Buehrle against his former team. Hopefully that fires him up a bit.

I say 3-1.

just stop playing bonerfatso. Id rather just put De Rosa, as horrible as he is at 3rd and Bats at RF again.

why would they do that? I think we are still trying to win games, not tank.

Bautista is not a 3B and Bonifacio is probably best suited for DH, so as bad as DeRosa has been the last two seasons, him at 3B and Bautista in RF would be the best way to go with what they currently have available. Bautista at 3B, Lawrie at 2B, and Bonifacio in the OF is going to be a disaster if it happens.

We can randomly say without any facts to back it up that he is not an a 3b but Batista is the best option we have at 3b if Lawrie plays 2b. Which gives us a best hitting line up.

no it's not going to be a "disaster". bautista is perfectly competent at 3B based on the 100+ starts he's made there as a blue jay. lawrie is a pure athlete, and i while i'd prefer to keep him at a position where he's proven to play GG defense, it's not like fielding grounders or making the throw to 1st is going to be a major adjustment for someone with his skill level, reflexes, range, and arm strength. i bet he won't be any worse than izturis there. the only thing that has potential to be disastrous is bonifacio in RF and even that has been overstated. he's shaky, definitely sucks in the infield, and has misjudged some liners, but he's no worse than thames/patterson out there imo.

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

Maybe i look at him under a microscope but after 9 games of watching bonifacio i have concluded:

In the IF - He has made signifcant errors either a routine grounder, or he doesnt charge the ball leading to someone that is 250 lbs to beat him out at first.

in the OF - he has trouble tracking the ball

Hitting wise can't really single him out cause everyone is hitting just as bad, but he is in double digits in SO this season along with rasmus and arencibia.

P.S, Adam Lind also blows.

I'm not sure why you believe that Bautista is not a third baseman, but DeRosa is.

Bautista has a slightly better career UZR/150 than DeRosa.
And Bautista has played more innings there.

Both are below average defensive third baseman, but in addition to being a defensive liability, DeRosa should not in any scenario be facing RH pitching at this stage in his career.

And despite having an arm tailor made for RF, Bautista is also a below average defender there.
So it's not as if you're moving him from a position where he actually makes you better.

Anthopoulos has already said they would not make this move unless Lawrie could handle 2B.
So disaster is a bit of an over exaggeration.

And if they were to move Bautista back to 3B until Reyes returns, i'd imagine they would also move Melky to RF ( where his arm fits much better than Bonifacio ) and then Bonifacio/Wells platooning in LF ( or Bonifacio/Davis if they keep Davis over Wells )

Bonifacio really is frustrating to watch. He doesn't seem to have a position defensively and 14 strikeouts to 1 walk is pitiful for a guy with no power.

We all like to point out Boni's 2011 season as proof he can be more (.360OBP, 40 steals, 26 doubles, .753 OPS). I have no problem with such an analysis and I agree that such a strong season so recently should award him chances. The problem is in putting too much weight into it. Rajai Davis, the logical comparison on the team, had a very similar year in 2009 (.360OBP, 41 steals, 27 doubles, .784OPS). And we all know what Rajai Davis became.

The team is in win now mode and unfortunately Boni has not proven himself worthy of playing time with his embarrassing defensive performances. I'm not saying relegate him to a bench only role, but he shouldn't be starting every game either. And I sure don't want to watch him leading off anymore. Hopefully, they let Lawrie lead off until Reyes returns, a decision which would be controversial in its own right, I imagine.

It would be a disaster because the worst defensive player on the team would be playing in the outfield, and the best defensive player on the team would be changing positions. Not to mention the star of the team would be playing a position he does not want to play (as of 2011). It makes no sense. DeRosa is more of a 3B than Bonifacio is a 2B/OF, and all things being equal I would rather have DeRosa at 3B for a week as he is at least on a hot streak and can be benched after Lawrie gets back.

If the Jays end up making those defensive changes, it would be because they want Bonifacio in the lineup. A team with playoff hopes is completely altering their defense so they can get Emilio freakin Bonifacio's bat in the lineup. I hope the Jays are smarter than that.
