Probably my least favorite ump in the game, complete clown.

This idiot needs to be out of the league.

Well I just watched some guy's recording off his tv on my 15" screen and I thought it was a homerun instantly so...

Yet another responsibility that should be taken away from umpires...video reviews.

They should be replaced all together. Besides all the random blown calls, nothing dumber than when they get caught up in the moment and make calls pending on the situation of the game.

And then tonight the umps at the Angels/Astros game let Bo Porter change pitchers twice without the first one having to face a batter.

"Wesley came in to pitch the batter that was scheduled to hit [Shuck] but he pinch-hit for the batter that was scheduled to hit. Which, from my understanding of the rule, you can bring in another pitcher to face the pinch-hitter."

Those are the words of a real, live, MLB manager, folks. And 4 umpires believed him. Amazing. I was anxious to hear an explanation after the game for why such a move was allowed to happen, and it was disappointing to find out that all parties involved simply didn't know one of the most basic rules of baseball.

Seems like 4 umps missed that HR call, can't just blame Hernandez. We'd have to see whatever replay MLB provided them.

Angel Hernandez was the crew chief and made the final decision. Even if one or both of the other umpires in the booth felt differently it was his responsibility to make the call.

wait, why was this clearly a homerun? it hit the top of the wall on the yellow line? does hitting the yellow line mean home run?

It didn't hit the yellow line, it hit the railing above the yellow line. MLB has already admitted it was the wrong call. This was their statement:

By rule, the decision to reverse a call by use of instant replay is at the sole discretion of the crew chief,” Torre said in a statement released during Thursday’s series finale. “In the opinion of Angel Hernandez, who was last night’s crew chief, there was not clear and convincing evidence to overturn the decision on the field. It was a judgment call, and as such, it stands as final.

Home and away broadcast feeds are available for all uses of instant replay, and they were available to the crew last night. Given what we saw, we recognize that an improper call was made.
