OT: Camden Yards assault

Post#1 » by YogiStewart » Sun Jun 2, 2013 9:56 am

pretty horrible story.

http://www.winnipegsun.com/2013/06/01/s ... police-say

Fortese, a lifelong New York Yankees fan, wore his team’s hat to the game. By the fifth or sixth inning, the couple had endured an hour of heckling regarding the hat from two men seated a section behind them.

One of the men then threw a beer that hit the couple, according to police. Fortese then confronted the men before one of them punched him in the head.

The blow sent Fortese over a railing and onto the concrete five feet below.

Whenever I'm at a game and I see someone in a different hat, I strike up a conversation about their team. If it's the opposing team, I give them credit for traveling to watch some baseball.

What's the point in getting angry at a different fan and punching them?

I once wore my Blue Jays shirt to Yankee Stadium and thought nothing of it. From the second I entered the stadium I didn't hear the end of it, it was ridiculous, I felt like I was in Nazi Germany or something. Basically I don't get why people have to be so intolerant of it sometimes. I guess someone not being from your city warrants you hating them?
