I hope AA was smart enough to insert a stipulation that ceases the contract if Melky gets caught again. What's the suspension for a 2nd offense? He's done for the year.

As much as I dislike A-Rod and Braun, I don't think it's fair to suspend guys unless they fail a test.

And suspending Melky again, wouldn't be fair at all.

what is a possible way that they can suspend him again? he was suspended already for a violation he committed late last year. to get a second offense wouldn't he have to commit the offense after the first suspension?

even if they prove that he took steroids as far back as his yankees days, can they penalize him for that and call it a "second offense" even if it happened before his "first offense"?

From my understanding, Melky can not be suspeneded again, unless he were to get caught after his suspension finished. So he shouldnt get suspended for this situation.

Unless this was Melky getting caught again then I don't think he will be suspended. First time offender is 50 games can't "add" games to that..

I think the only way for Melky to get suspeneded again (for PED reasons) is if he were to get caught using PEDs from the day his suspension ended until he retires.

I think the problem was when this guy wrote out players names in full. He couldn't even initialize the their first name. Or the Victor Conti full initials. No, he wrote them out. Even spelled their names right. I'm sure Ryan Brahn would have found a way to get exonerated, like a speeding ticket.

The A-Rod suspension is horrible news for the Jays. As it probably gives the Yankees an out from the terrible contract they owe A-Rod.

Yeah Yanks were fighting before, but I doubt they could do it.

honestly, this is all based on sketchy legal grounds, an obvious PR move. I don't think they have clear direct evidence linking these players to wrongdoing, there's a good chance an arbitration panel will throw all these suspensions out. Melky also has the best case here even if they got him dead to rights, they can't suspend him twice for the same violation and it probably is the same violation. The same probably applies for Ryan Braun too but that case is even more complicated

A couple of people have said Melky can only be suspended if he took steroids after his last suspension ended. I highly doubt that were he to be taking steroids DURING his suspension, he'd get away with it. I also highly doubt he was doing that, just to make things clear.

I doubt they will give Melky a lengthy suspension but they'll probably give him some BS 10 day or so suspension just for being associated.

Can't suspend him for taking steroids after his last suspension without evidence that he used them this season, which would mean a positive drug test (which, of course, has yet to happen).

If their entire case against these players is built around the veritability of Bosch's testimony, MLB is going to have a difficult time getting any of these suspensions to stick, let alone another potential Melky suspension considering he's already served one for using Biogenesis' drugs.
