The ongoing and seemingly never-ending rehab thread

Lawrie - Starting rehab in DUN tomorrow, way sooner that Gibbons thought yesterday when he predicted two weeks
Santos - will throw innings for DUN on July 1-4-7, then move on to BUF for back to back outings. Says he's been using Delabar's weighted ball thingie with good success.

Santos is scheduled for three rehab outings with Class-A Dunedin. Will then head to Buffalo and hopes to return after All Star Break.
Drabek - in progress with DUN
While Drabek has no immediate claim on a 25-man spot, the progressive additions of Reyes, Lawrie, Morrow and Santos will continue to create speculation on the roster movements needed to accommodate them. Seeems likely to be McGowan or Kawasaki out first. Ultimately, both seem likely to go, the issue seems more in the sequencing.

Pssh...Drabek can hang out in the minors. If he proves he can mentally handle minor failures, ie not freaking out at himself when he throws a ball, then we can talk.

Let put him in the bullpen, it has worked out for Casey and Brett.

Supposedly, he's not expecting to throw harder. The idea was to build up the shoulder to the point where he can resist injury better.

Which is what ultimately matters most. I really hope that the weighted balls have some effect...anything that lowers the catastrophic rate of career-limiting shoulder injuries in baseball is a great thing.

Every couple years there's a team on the fringe that goes bananas for relief help and gives something of real value up. It was Colby and the Cards last time and it worked pretty well for them. So everybody cross everything you've got that PIT can't put the package together for Stanton, get freaked, and we send them Oliver, J.Perez, Wagner, and McGowan for Taillon to give them all the relief depth they need.

This is a dream. Santos comes back strong and we move him before he gets injured again, the odds aren't in our favour.

Injured last year, injured again this year, playoffs are stil a long shot. I'd shut him down.

Injured the year before last year and shut down in August the year before that to limit his innings. He better be on the Cecil and Delabar program if he's not going to get his ass back up here before September. Looks like we'll be seeing a lot more Wang this season.

Jon Morosi said it best, you can't have JP and Colby in your lineup and expect to go to the playoffs. He also suggested may be it would be best for Morrow to go to the bullpen for next season.

Rasmus has been top ten at his position this year. Between wanting Bautista to be amnestied, Rasmus to be benched, and Francoeur to be signed to play third, you have some rather interesting ideas about lineup management.
