19 games vs division teams is beyond ridiculous. I would personally want to see every team face off. A schedule like this would be awesome:

8 games vs Division: 8x4 = 32
7 games vs rest of leauge: 7x10 = 70 (4H, 3R vs 5 teams, 3H, 4R vs the other 5)
4 games vs Interleauge: 4x15 = 60 (2H, 2R)

Increase the roster to 27, because of the DH/ no DH situation.
Have a 2 man inactive list (daily) so you still have a 25 man active roster. This one way to avoid dipping into the minors every so often.

So if your on a road trip: 2 in Philly, 3 in Detroit, 2 in Washington, 2 in Atlanta, something like the above would be good to have.


OR

Completely scrap each leauge. Create 2 Conferences (East/West). Have no division.
Face conference teams an equal amount of times, and interconferece an equal(but less) amount of times.

Before the start of the season each team decides weather they want to use the DH or not for home games.


What would you guys like to see, in terms of schedule and roster size.

Eh, it's fine the way it is. We wouldn't be complaining if we weren't getting curbstomped by the AL East. Everyone else in the division is fairing just fine.

Balance it. It makes no sense to compete for the same playoff wildcard spots under completely different schedules. The MLB is pretty **** up in that way.

Yeaa like I'm pretty sure the Twins randomly got to plays the Marlins 7 times this year, wtf is with that

Every year a division in the AL is matched up with a specific division in the NL, just like in the NFL. The AL East played the NL West, that's why we've played the Pads, Giants, Dodgers, and Rockies so far.

I knew there was no way this could possibly be true so I checked their schedules and they only play each other 4 times this season, which I think is the max # of games for an interleague match-up

Scrap the AL/NL and go with a balanced schedule.

Never going to happen, but I think in 2013 it's weird that MLB is operated as two leagues basically.

No divisions. Balanced schedule. Top 8 teams make the playoffs. Sometimes the simplest way is the best way...

Obviously I'd like to see a balanced schedule as well, that's really the best answer... But sometimes I think of going completely off the board...

What about putting all the big spenders into 1 division to compete against 1 another;

Angels
NYY
Bos
Tex

I don't care about travel and time zones. These guys fly on private jets and having to change time zones a few times a year... boo hoo, cry me a river. I just like the idea of all the big spenders competing against 1 another. Logistically I know it doesn't even work, I'm talking in principle only.

I've always said I won't feel sorry for the Jays until they actually prefer to play fewer games vs the AL East. But they want to sell tickets to those games.

A balanced schedule will never happen because rivalries are such a big draw. So I'd say rather than changing the schedule, weight the wildcard records by quality of opposition. Of course that will probably never happen either, as it's probably too complex for the casual fan to get behind. Then again, baseball attracts stat-heads, so if any sport could do something like this it would be baseball.

No change is necessary. The Rays and Orioles made the playoffs facing the same unfair schedule as the Jays have faced. Stop making excuses and win the division and/or Wild Card with whatever obstacles are in front of you. I do not feel sorry for the Jays at all.

I think both the MLB and NHL need to cut down on division games.
