It's amazing there's any activity at all with 7 games left in probably the most nightmarish season in Jays history.

nah ernie whitt sliding into second in Milwaukee was the worst by far, even worse than pitching to george brett

Yeah, MLB should definitely look at limiting pitching changes to one per inning when you have two powerhouses like these teams battling it out in the final week of the season.

Surprised Ventura didn't go and get Reed out of there after starting Sierra with a ball.

It's battles like these that define September.
Reed walked four guys last outing.
Arencibia has walked four times in his professional career.
The mystery and intrigue is some kind of special.

Arencibia with a dinger in the loss and still at .196 overall. Only one of those things will matter to JP.

Two innings on the 10th. Suspect that they're mostly working with him in bullpen sessions, because he's still a wee bit of a hot mess.

JPK ruins a great scoring chance again.

Granted, some of them haven't had a tonne of at-bats, but I wonder how many AL teams have had four players in the 6th-9th spots in the order with OBPs below .300. Gose/Arencibia/Goins/Pillar have a combined total of 28 walks in 797 plate appearances, a walk every 28.5 PAs...and Arencibia's walk rate is second-best in that grouping, somehow.

Must say: if Jim Palmer isn't a spokesman for some brand of hair dye, he ought to be. Confuses me every time I remember that he's old enough to have been elected to the Hall of Fame twenty-three years ago.

So, is the Goins honeymoon over? Does everyone still want him to play 2B full-time next season?

Mark DeRosa is **** up our draft pick position.

If he provides elite level D and we're able to use the money not spent on second to fill other holes, such as catcher, then sure, why not.
It can't really be answered in a vacuum... We have numerous holes and I'm realistic enough that we won't be able to fill them all with the budget constraints Anthopoulos will be working with.
The flipside being, if Arencibia/Thole or Gose/Sierra were in the everyday lineup, then we better have a bigger bat at second.
Ideally, Goins would not be an everyday player on this team, at any point in his career.

Yeah, but hearing all 18 people at Camden boo ( and now chant USA) was worth it.

Have to say, Santos is doing an amazing job. 0.57 WHIP and 1.57 ERA. I have more faith in him than in Janssen, which brings us back to the should-we-trade-Janssen debate. Casey has certainly kept up decent numbers, too, and has to have some market value, either for straight up help or as a chip in a package.

I agree. I'd trade Santos before Janssen if they had equal value, but the former is coming off injuries. I maintain that we could comfortably move Janssen
and Delabar and still have a bullpen that rates well above average, and in so doing we ought to be able to acquire some worthwhile trading chips.
