Interesting quirk to his contract that I didn't know about.

Yawn. Don't think many people care who manages this team anymore.

No. But he can catch and the Jays need a catcher!

Offseasons are long. The fire Gibby threads will start up again in early April.

How much is he getting paid? Can't be all that much. When they named him manager the atmosphere was like he found a golden ticket to Willy Wonka's factory. He may not technically be a lame-duck manager since he has a guaranteed year, but that's far from a guarantee that he'll keep his job any longer than if he didn't have an extension. Like Ron Wilson circa 2012. Given a contract extension so as to avoid lame duck status; promptly (and predictably) fired 3 months later. Not saying that'll happen to Gibby, but it is essentially meaningless since coaches are so cheap.

LOL even GIbbons himself says he needs to improve as a leader in the clubhouse and be better prepared in spring training in setting a tone, something we all thought he was lacking because many of us rightly thought he decided to let the players manage themselves which was evident by thier undisciplined play. Of course the stats nerds thought all he needed to do was manage the bullpen and do nothing else.

Hopefully this time Jed Clampett will call the first team meeting regarding the team's play on the field and not when Kawasaki the team mascot gets demoted. Either way, he's gone by June.
