McGuire's 3 for 3 with a double. All grounders, one to left, one to right, one to center.

Alford has been pretty hot lately too. Hits in eleven straight games (as well as 6 walks in that span). 3 steals in his last four games too.

Vlad Jr. has now reached base at least twice, in six straight games.

Only 4 qualified guys hitting over .300 and only 3 guys with an OPS over .850 (and all of them are 22 or older). Only two teams in the whole league (Dunedin and Bradenton) have a collective OPS of .700 or higher.

Yeah, his control and weird mechanics are still a concern, but there's no doubt that he has the stuff to be a back-end reliever, possibly as early as late 2018.

I like prospects who finish their minor league seasons strong.

The following outfielders are hitting over .300 for August to date.

Anthony Alford .346
DJ Davis .375
Joshua Palacios .349 (.340 in July)

An honorable mention for August improvement to Reggie Pruitt, hitting .270, which is a hopeful trend for him.

Speaking of bad control, Angel Perdomo has taken a real step back this year. More walks, less strikeouts, after a strong season last year. Could be a useful bullpen piece with a mid 90's fast ball and a LHP.
Sean Reid Foley and that killer stache continues to struggle, the 18 HR's given up is a real concern which has never been a problem for him throughout his minor league career until this season.

From the reports I've seen, Reid Foley is having a lot of trouble keeping his fast ball down.

Callis makes another bold prediction for Vlad Jr.

Callis: That's right, I love the guys that I love, but everything I said about him in there is true. Plus he goes to low-A this year at age 18 and it isn't even a challenge for him. He's already at high-A. The similarities between him and his dad are incredible, and he's got more plate discipline. His dad would swing at everything, this guy as you mentioned Greg, has more walks and strikeouts. I'll double down on the hyperbole, are you ready? Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Vladimir Guerrero Sr., the first father-son combination to make the Hall of Fame.

Guerrero's wRC+ in Dunedin is 180. Over the last 23 games? 244. That'll do.

I look eagerly to his arrival, but success will depend on a lot more than what he can do, even if he's hitting homers at a Giancarlo Stanton rate. The farm system needs more quality arms. And besides Bichette and maybe Alford, it would be nice to see a few more position prospects surge ahead. It's early days on some, like Warmoth, but I'll really get excited about our future when the farm system has more depth of high end prospects, and some of the deadwood at the major league has been pensioned off to make room for them.

I have to think the Jays will start he and Bo next year in AA. No point sending them back to Dunedin.

Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Maverik Buffo gave up 8 hits and 4 runs only 1 earned. His first loss of the season, only way to beat this living legend is through errors.

Jansen with a 2 homerun game 9 on the year over 3 levels. He continues to rake in AAA

I'm getting pretty excited for Alford. Maybe he's the leadoff man we've been waiting for how long now.

Might be time to take Danny Jansen seriously. 4-4 with two homers and a triple tonight. Hitting .500 with eight walks and one strike out in AAA.

So far in AAA Jansen is hitting .500/.591/.917 in 12 games, with 8 walks and 1 strike out.

On the season he's .341/.418/.516 with 38 walks and 34 strike outs in 95 games.
