Hmm...perhaps something centered around the filthiness of his stuff, though perhaps 'filthy' isn't the best word. Maybe another synonym would work. And we could throw in part of his name in concert with that to indicate who exactly we're talking about.

Grimy Aaron? Nailed it.

Lugo walked in his first plate appearance tonight.

Lugo. Walked.

If he can add that element to his game, he can basically take his seat near the top of our organizational rankings based on all the other extremely positive reports of his bat.

Yeah, I wonder where he got such a disgusting idea. Sheesh Homer, try to be classy like Schad here.

How about we call him Aaron "The Malodorous Mustache" Sanchez?

D-Jays only managed two hits

Of note:

Matt Newman and Michael Reeves each had a hit. Reeves had a tough night defensively with 2 errors, a passed ball. He did catch 1 of 2 basestealers.
Christian Lopes was 0-2 with 2 BB

Taylor Cole had a good outing going 6 innings giving up just 1 hit, 2 walks and a run. He struck out 7.
Danny Barnes took the loss in the 10th he gave up a hit and two walks in his 1 inning of work.

Lansing with an 8-2 win

DJ Davis 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 SB, 0 strikeouts
Thon 1-4, BB
Nay 2-5, 2B, 2 RBI
Dean 1-5

Labourt 3.1 - 2 H - 1 ER - 4 BB - 4 K - HR

Tirado on for the 4 inning save - 5 H - 1 ER - 1 BB - 7 K - HR

Wait, what? Piggybacking starters I totally get, but are we really putting the reliever in between them? I have no idea if that's good or bad, just totally weird.

I'm assuming that they were expecting it to work out to be 5 inning for the first starter and then 4 innings for the guy on the back end. Labout hit his pitch count so they brought Dragmire in to bridge to the 6th. Don't know why, but that's all I can think of.

Finishing off the inning I can see, but it seems very weird to give Dragmire the fifth instead of Tirado, but I guess there's no reason not to just tell him that he's going to start the fifth and get 4 innings and then follow through regardless of Labourt. Just not something I think I've heard of before.

Labourt's pitch count definitely is part of it.. but they'll use relievers to bridge the starters so the second guy can begin an inning.

Keith Law:

Aaron Sanchez started for New Hampshire and his raw stuff was the best I've seen from him. His fastball was an easy 94-96 mph with explosive late life, with hitters flinching twice, once at how quickly it got in on them (especially right-handers) and again when it seemed to find another gear over the plate (an illusion, but an effective one). Sanchez paired it with a plus curveball, mostly 80-81, very sharp with late bite, breaking down hard, with curveball rotation but the timing of a slider's break. His changeup was between average and fringe-average, 88-91, a little too firm with some arm-side run but not enough action to make it truly effective. I'd worry about a pitch like that playing more like a BP fastball in the majors.

Surprised to see a Sanchez write up from Law that doesn't mention concerns over his delivery.

A shaky but survivable start for Norris

L. Tyler Murray ‏@LT__Murray 2m
25 pitches for LHP prospect Daniel Norris in the first inning. Gets two Ks, allows two singles, but keeps the D-Jays up, 1-0.

Blue Jays from Away ‏@JaysFromAway 31s
Daniel Norris struck out his third batter to close the 2nd inning in Clearwater. The bad news? 41 pitches through 2 innings.

Dwight Smith had only 11 homers and 41 extra base hits in total in 737 plate appearances.

If today is a sign of a developing power surge in his game, he becomes a bit of an interesting prospect.

Note that Dwight Smith's home runs were both off a lefty, as well, and the two big knocks on his development to date have been i) no power, and ii) can't hit left-handed pitching at all. So that's a big dose of good news.

Yeah, I can't see the embedded tweets using Tapatalk... but I just noticed they were both off Hamels. Wowza.
