Yeah, unless there's a non-baseball reason, #freehiraldo. He's obliterating DSL pitching at the moment.

I mean, what does this say about Leonardo Jimenez who received more money, got placed higher, and is hitting .455 to start the GCL season himself?

They're going to need to start rotating people at SS more. They acquire nothing but SS(nothing wrong with that), but if they don't put like three on a team, and rotate them around, people are going to be blocked. I'm sure Orelvis Martinez is going to be way too good for the DSL as well.

Doesn't really say anything about Jimenez; we already intend on rotating him through 2B and SS from the looks, so I'd think that it would be possible to get all of them infield reps until one was deemed Appy League ready.

Looks like MLB did a top 100 and team re-rank.

Top 100: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2018?list=prospects

Jays: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2018?list=tor

Vladdy (2), Bo (9), Alford (41) and Pearson (86).

The Jays list is fine from 1-4 but the rest is strange. Warmoth (5) moved ahead of Jansen (6). Urena is still pretty high at (11), Smith (18) and Biggio (19) still seem low. Looks like Diaz isnt there.

No, they never. These just random updates. They didn't do a full re-ranking, just a couple of changes here and there.

Today's episode of Noda-ry Public: another home run, strikeout and walk, making it a perfect Noda game. His Three True Outcomes rate is a good day from breaching 50%.

Thomas Pannone made his first start after his suspension, in Dunedin. 7 ER in 4.2 IP suggests that it didn't go so well.

Good game tonight for Anthony Alford. 3-3 with 2 doubles, a triple, and walk.

Doesn’t seem like Dunedin has any room at 1B/OF for Noda. If he keeps this up though, shouldn’t he be moving up?

And Alford doing something is great news

My only concern with drafting/signing so many middle infielders is this issue of getting them playing time. Hopefully, there are some promotions before long. Vancouver is a pretty weak hitting team, but I doubt there is a big mover - a prime prospect - from the DSL, GCL or Appy who can make it that far this season.

I have the same concern with the major league roster. Our starting catcher is hitting .160 and aside from his game calling, is losing all of his physical skills. Yet, for contract reasons and for the perception of treating respected veterans right, Russell Martin keeps playing. And yes, I get that he has a good OBP, but the Jays need timely hits, you know, hits with RISP. They had nine hits last night, outhit the Angels 9-3, and lost 2-1. I can't stand watching these old farts. I get it that we have to be patient until the trade deadline, but frankly it pisses me off that Gurriel goes 2-4 with a homer and gets sent down because we have to make room for Steve Pearce who is an okay vet for a team in a different time in the contention cycle, but yo-yo-ing these young players in and out as injury replacements does them no good. There is no need to get 100 cents on the remaining value in a Pearce, Granderson or Pillar. None were high draft picks of ours. Let the roster breath a little, let the kids come and play every day.

What’s happening with Kevin Pillar?
His defensive numbers don’t look good this year and his bat has cooled off. Isn’t he entering arbitration soon?
For example, his UZR/150 went from 16.8 (2016), 6.3 (2017), -1.6 (2018)

If we acquire a premium outfielder at the deadline, does that make Pillar and Alford obsolete? Assuming Grichuk and Teoscar are staying for 2019.

What on God's green earth makes you think we are acquiring premium veteran talent at the deadline? Mike Trout ain't walking through that door.

If we acquire a name veteran, it better be a former premium player another franchise will bribe us to take by giving us a very good prospect or two. Then we can DFA him over the winter.

Pillar is at the age wherein elite defensive center fielders seem to stop being elite.

Two players shining I'm GCL - Groshans with a 2-3 day (single, homer) with two walks and four RBIs, average to .438, and Gabriel Mareno, who DH-d today but is listed as a C. He was 3-5 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs, average to .615. Nice first week for these two.

He really should be traded ASAP.

Chill I was referring to an outfield prospect lol.

I was just thinking how we could find playing time if 2019 is cluttered with Pillar, Hernandez, Grichuk, and Alford. None of them are terrific but they're also not terrible enough to write them off just yet.

I’m just worried he would get blocked somehow like Jansen is currently with Martin and Maile, which by the way should never be happening.

And it appears that he has reached that point, so there won't be a better time to shift him. If we're going to have Grichuk, it's definitely worth giving him some time in CF to see whether he can still handle the position, because it'd make a real difference in his value down the road.

Like it or not, I'm going to keep posting about Ryan Noda until this home run surge ends. He hit another, and now has 10 HRs in 17 games, and an OPS of 1.500 or something in June.

Also going to mention Gabriel Moreno, who is 8 for 13 with 2 doubles, a triple, 2 HRs, no walks and no strikeouts, as he appears to have decided that he plays hitball, and not watchball.
