We need to figure out how to beat some people in AL East if this season is going to have any semblance of meaningful baseball.

I still find it absurd that McGowan is starting for this team right now. Maybe he'll surprise me, but I doubt it.

2 out of 3 boys

i don't like pitching match-ups too much though, but that goes without saying for us on most nights

eddie needs to hit some biscuits like he usually does at oriole park

We're going to win 1 out of 3 at best.

i bet on 1 out of 3 at best. you know, it is discouraging when you send out your number 1 starter against the number 5 starter of a team that has historically been the worst in the AL and you still can't get a win.

Good luck with that! Not with this current lineup and starting rotation.

I feel the same way as well. Why not put in Redmond?

That's the way baseball works. Bad teams beat good teams more frequently than you seem to think. Even the elite of the elite aren't going to win more than 60% of their games.

Taking two of three from a team, even one as bad as the Astros, is just fine.

As for this series, I could see us taking two. As much as we like to rag on our pitching, Tillman, Norris and Ubaldo shouldn't scare anyone.

Redmond hasn't shown the ability to get through a lineup more than once without becoming eminently hittable. The long man role seems perfectly fine for him.

Until McGowan proves he isn't, and you need a sample size greater than one game for that, I see no reason not to consider him the best of the options available.

McGowan has had ONE start and people are calling for a change? That's just silly. According to that logic, Dickey shouldn't be starting based on his first game in Tampa. Let's give the guy a bit of a chance. He has a good arm as long as it doesn't fall off.

So we've officially gone from a platoon of Izturis/Goins to Diaz/Goins. I honestly see no reason to play Goins even against righties. Diaz, who can barely hit himself, is still a better option and doesn't give up much, if anything, defensively. Goins and Sierra better be off this team the moment Reyes and Janssen are healthy.
