Blue Birds v. Royal Blues, April 29- May 1

April 29 — Tuesday night we have McGowan (1-1, 6.88 ERA) starting for the last time, probably. The Royals send Vargas (2-0, 1.54 ERA), a southpaw who has averaged 7 innings this month. He's terrible against the Jays, but it's been a couple years since he last faced them.

April 30 — Hutchison (1-1, 3.46 ERA) up against Bruce Chen (1-2, 7.45 ERA). Chen came up with the Braves. Those of you who used to watch the Braves on TBS during the late 90s might remember him. Yah, he's old.

May 1 — Cy Buehrle (incredible thus far with a 2.16 ERA and a 4-1 record) v. Ventura (2-1, 1.80 ERA). Buerhle is due for a regression, but the Royals aren't a terribly difficult lineup.

And Cabrera is one hit shy of setting the franchise record for most hits in April (and March). Let's hope he gets a couple tonight and tomorrow. Dude is on fire.

All games in Kauffman Stadium and begin at 8:05 p.m. ET

Chris Getz is going to play a massive factor for us coming out of KC with a series win. .. . .. . .. .

Geez, I don't see alot of Royals pitchers who we've clubbed in the past in this series either. Bruce Chen has learned how to pitch and we always seem to have a hard time against those guys. And Ventura is up and down so far this season but he's electric. Won't be a cake walk to win this series.

We take 2 out of 3 from this series. Bautista will hit a HR or two, so will EE. Lawrie is warming up!

“Not worried about my average,” he said after the Jays beat Boston 7-1. “Not worried about any of it. Just worried about going out there and having fun and trying to contribute to the team, whether that’s on offence or defence.”

Now that's the attitude we need from all the players on this team, if we want to compete day in and day out.

Still waiting for Colby Rasmus to wake up however.

So glad Goins is gone. Getz is slightly better, but not a huge improvement. We need to make a trade to fill in the glaring hole at 2nd base.

That line-up looks sexy as hell except for Getz. Only thing we need is Rasmus to heat up.

That's pretty much what JPA said last year.

Dusty is going to have a strong start and put Stroman's debut on hold.

Infante would have looked good @ 2B in a Jays uniform.

Good call! Although you didn't have to go out too far on that limb.

Francisco is awful vs. LHP - Why isn't he bunting with that stupid shift on?

He has exactly zero bunts in his career. With the runner on first being the not-at-all-quick Navarro, you're probably better off just letting him strike out.

Edit: should clarify. By career, I don't just mean his major league career. Best I can tell he has never successfully bunted as a professional hitter.

Way to hit the ball too weakly to record an out, Getz!

...on replay, maybe not weakly enough.

I hear what you're saying , but they had the shift on - Nobody was at 3rd, so if he gets the bunt down that way Navarro and Francsico could walk to 1st and 2nd base.
