Sierra was toast after last night, but a little surprised about Diaz.
Update: Erik Kratz is being recalled for inter-league play, no idea who is out yet.

Makes no sense to option Diaz IMO... No clue what is going on inside Alex's head sometimes, not even the faintest of ideas.

Steve Tolleson BUF OBP .345 AVG .236
Plus the idea of Gibbons floating Lawrie back to 2b with interleague? What in the world is happening with this team.

This team is falling apart.. again.
Injuries are piling up. It's 2013 all over again.
I've had enough of this crap!
Changes are needed. Starting from the top.
"We the North" (using campaign from Raptors playoff run.) have been waiting for more than 20 years for something special to happen with this Blue Jays team. We have been disappointed year in and year out.
Something and someone has to be blamed for all of this. It's time for change. A new direction is needed, before many of us fans lose interest and go away for good. I'm at that tipping point right now... My patience is running thin with this Blue Jays organization, and I'm sure many more feel the same way as well.

It's called needing somebody to play 3B who isn't Juan Francisco.

Or you just keep Lawrie at 3b, but whatever.

Not good that we started the season with so many holes in the lineup. At least they're not waiting past April to make changes.
We still have Kawasaki in the minors who can play every infield position and get on base. Wagner for our bullpen and hopefully Stroman can make it here this season as our #5 starter.

You're aware that he's hurt and didn't play yesterday, right?

No, you got me.

We should all be excited that Sierra is gone....then you look at his replacements and realize, it's not much better. Oh well, at least Gose can field all OF positions, can be used as a pinch-runner. If we're going to have a no-hit 4th of'er might as well be able to do something.

Nothing is worse than a DH with JPA type bat.

It was sad that Reyes said their play has been unacceptable. Actually it has been acceptable considering the team that AA puts on the field.
Why Tolleson? Is he better than kawasaki? I don't think so. All through the spring and in his short stint this year, Kawasaki was a catalyst for the offence.
it is almost as if they are picking names out of a hat at this point. but truth is they are short on the minor league hitting prospects. It honestly could have been Goedert (who has a decent average in triple A) for all I care to get Francisco off 3rd while letting Diaz who at least fields competently at 2nd to stay.
Why keep Francisco at 3rd? I thought a preference was to keep defence over offence.
As for Gose, I wonder if Mastro is a better option. I like Gose's speed if he could ever get on base. Which is the same way as I liked Jefress, if he could ever command a pitch. But right now, either is an upgrade over Sierra.
But yeah, just do moves to fix the offence and forget about the fact that the bullpen has imploded. AA will keep Happ, Jenkins, Redmond and Rogers so that Gibbons can put them in when the game is on the line. Yesterday, we almost saw Redmond enter the game in another high leverage situation.
Wagner and maybe a guy like Korecky should be up on the team while sending Jenkins and one of the two Rs down. I'd lose Rogers at this point. Gives you a deeper bullpen. Just swallow the pride of a bad trade. Rogers was good in spurts but has never shown consistency to warrant a spot on an already troubled bullpen. They have at least 2 potentially good triple A starters. You no longer need to keep both Rs for the sake of starting options.

An off-season of doing nothing, followed by injury-prone players getting hurt, and having no suitable replacements for them. Wow. Who saw that coming?
I'm convinced more than ever that the Jays are not going to fully rebuild now. They can't. This season's inactivity/mediocrity followed by trading their best players will cause an exodus in attendance that even the 1994 strike couldn't accomplish.

Ffs ... Did Kawasaki bang aa's wife or something? I wonder if they even notice that for some reason the Jays play much better when he's around?

So are we going to go with a 3-man bench in both Pittsburgh and Philly? That's going to be a disaster.
And who is on our bench for tonight? Just Tolleson and Thole?

I've never seen a case where a player is both the best option on the field and a fan favourite and yet is kept in the minors in favour of players of the ilk of Goins, Diaz, Getz, and now Tolleson.
Normally when a franchise makes a terrible decision, I can at least speculate on why they felt the need to do so. Here, I have no idea what they're thinking. It's baffling.

The only rationale is that they know what they have in Kawasaki and they're hoping some other scrub they haven't tried can provide more offense.

Kawasaki isn't exactly lighting it up in Buffalo, but surely they're not evaluating solely on that small sample. He's clearly the best option right now. Taking Tolleson of all people over him is peculiar to say the least.

Guys, for what its worth we are 1.5 games back, we need to make changes to get the right mix and not risk injury pulling us out of contention for good. We haven't been playing well but we are right there in the mix. This def means we need to make a push. We are a couple of those games where the Bulpen blew it from being 1st in the Division.
We need to be cut throat if RA continues to suck, Morrow is already out and Dustin can't come around. We need to make changes. The Bulpen needs to sure up a bit and hopefully we can get these guys swinging and stealing a few bases to generate some runs because this line up should never be shut out. Lind needs to get back into the line up.
Sucks to see Rajai and Boni doing great on other teams right now.
