His nine-year run with the organization ends with a bit of a whimper; he'll be on the White Sox roster for the moment, but could have more DFA roulette in his future.

The White Sox are really aiming high on their waiver claims, I'm devastated.

Yeah I thought I was the only one that noticed this. They've seriously been hoarding up on guys they think they can turn around that are loaded with tools or have one standout tool. It started at the Rule 5 Draft when it leaked that they really wanted Adrien Nieto (their backup catcher this year) who was a catcher in A ball coming off a 50 game suspension for steroids. Then it continued when they claimed Maikel Cleto from the Royals (former St Louis farmhand that can throw 100mph with Jo-Jo Reyes like command). Don Cooper their pitching coach has done a phenomenal job with him and he's still improving his command. I guess with Sierra, maybe something clicks there once their hitting coach/whoever takes a look at his swing and setup at the plate and corrects a flaw. Heck, they fixed that awful stance of Alex Rios and all of a sudden, he's been a consistent hitter these past several seasons.

Alex Rios was a very good player for the Jays. And he's been a very good player since then.

Wow I didn't know that. Was he with the Blue Jays organization for that long (9 years)??
Oh well.. not our problem now. Wish him all the best in Chicago.

International free agents are generally signed at age 16, so by the time they reach the majors they've been around the block. Moises Sierra is listed as having signed on December 20th, 2005...he entered the organization in the days after the Burnett signing/Overbay trade, and a week before we acquired Troy Glaus (and some minor league middle infielder by the name of Sergio Santos, while we're talking about White Sox reclamation projects).

Yeah he was until he signed that extension and who knows what happened then but he went to Chicago, struggled a bit there and in 2012, their hitting coaches got him standing more upright in his swing and he's been a consistent hitter.

Well nine years is along time and if an organization doesn't have room for a player after that long, it's good that he gets the chance to move on elsewhere, if jobs are available, rather than being stuck in the minors for life.

Is it just me or did it seem like Sierra didn't want to be here? Being behind three good OFers, despite Rasmus might leave after this year. He sure didn't look very into the game with his at-bats.

Not really. He looked like a young player who was overthinking and overwhelmed. He's fighting to have a major league career in any capacity, I very much doubt that he was pouting his way out of town.
