Blue Jays have signed lefty reliever Mike Zagurski to a minor league deal.

Mike Zagurski, 31, reportedly has opted out of his minor league contract with the Cleveland Indians triple-A affiliate and signed a minor deal with Toronto.

The six-foot, 240-pounder had a 2-0 record and 2.76 earned-run average in 16 games with the Columbus Clippers of the International League this season. He also struck out 22 batters and allowed just one home run in 16 1/3 innings.

Last season, Zagurski was 6-3 with a 3.04 ERA in a combined 45 triple-A games for three teams.

He has been consistent the past four-plus seasons at triple A, posting a cumulative 2.87 ERA and averaging 11.9 strikeouts per nine innings over 194 1/3 frames.

Zagurski hasn’t been as successful in parts of five seasons at the major league level with a bloated 7.05 ERA in 89 appearances for Philadelphia, Arizona, Pittsburgh and the New York Yankees.

In 75 1/3 innings, he has 75 strikeouts but 85 hits and 46 walks.
