Ugghh... the Rays. It would be fitting for it to be the Rays to crush what remains of our baseball souls this season.

On the plus side, these matchups are pretty decent for us, and at least we're playing them at home. Hutch had better show up on Sunday though because Archer is particularly nasty.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

If there was ever a series we desperately needed, this is it. Make up ground in WC race and put the rays to bed.

I'll take 2 out of 3 at home, but a sweep would be nice.

The Jays need to start sweeping teams. They have the Rays, then the Red Sox. That's two teams that have thrown in the towel (though Tampa is still dangerous).

I'm not expecting anything. I've pretty much given up hope, but if the Jays have one more unsustainable elite run left in them, they'll need it right about now.

it's difficult to gain ground in the wc with 3 or 4 teams in the race now. it's not Hutchison that has to perform it's the offense. No excuse for lack of runs. The manager needs to retool the bottom of the order because someone has to be on base when it gets to Reyes.

The Blue Jays are tanking and Colby Rasmus is their tank commander

Maybe the smartest think Buck Martinez has ever said:

"There shouldn't be any surprises on August 22nd."

(Referring to Colby Rasmus' lackadaisical play in the 4th inning, allowing Kiermaier to get to 2nd, on what should have been a single up the middle)

The Francisco/Valencia platoon leaves a lot to be desired defensively.

I want the Jays to suck the rest of the way. The worst thing they can do is finish with 83 wins and chug along with the same roster next year. Either make the playoffs or collapse in epic fashion. No in between.

Wow, Yunel Escobar is terrible this season, both offensively and defensively. The latter is the most surprising. I wonder why his defense dropped off so significantly.
