THIS JUST IN: Twins fire manager Ron Gardenhire.
Gardenhire had managed Twins since 2002. (via media reports)

Any chance the Bluejays make a run at him? or will they stay content with who they have in place?

I certainly hope not. He's awful.

Why would they fire Gardenhire? Twins are still rebuilding and he's been their manager so long

What are the majority of the managers good for 1-2 wins during the season?

It does seem like a weird time to fire him. A year ago makes sense, but why now, a year into the integration of the new crop of prospects?

Gardenhire's successes and failures in MIN are a good example of how meaningless managers are though. 6 playoff teams in less than a decade on a shoestring budget, then a new stadium, a larger payroll, and tank nation. Why? 'cause Mauer, Morneau, and Liriano all pretty much went off the rails at the same time. Not much a manager can do about that. And he's good managing the best bullpen in the league, not so much when it's a half dozen guys who wouldn't have jobs on 28 other teams.

Gardenhire: 1068-1039 career record...4 straight 90+ loss seasons to finish his Minny career, 3 of those being cellar finishes.
Gibbons: 462-472 career record

No point.
