The Hype of Short term Performance

A player can be great for so long and a short bad streak at the wrong time can kill his value..... Or gain it with a fluky performance.
Take Casey Jannsen for example. He was a top end closer for the last 3 season including the first half of this season. There was talk that Jays were gonna lock him up.... Then the second half comes, and Jays want nothing to do with him. Bang, all 3 years of good play down the drain because of a few months of low time. Jannsen went from closer to unwanted on a team desperate for relief pitching........... Trust me. Someone is gonna sign Jannsen on the cheaps, and he might not even be a closer, but he will be a solid steal.
Same goes for James Shields. He was well on his way to cash in big time. One of the best starters through out his career, and led KC so far this season.... Then he does just so-so in the playoffs and he seems like a risk at high dollars.... Trust me, some team is gonna sign him at a much lower price than Lester or Sherzer and it will be a steal.
Dont judge proven talent in short term streaks. Jays should sign Janssen
