Trevor Cahill, Arizona
12 million 2015, 13 million 2016 Option
Bartolo Colon, NYM
11 million 2015, FA 2016
Mike Leake, Cincinnati
9.7 million 2015, FA 2016

Obviously these guys are not cheaply paid. But they would be cheap to trade for. Likely wont cost the big name prospects.
I personally take Colon on the cheaps. Mets tried to deal him but got no takers. They dont need him, they are loaded at SP.

Trouble is, it's clear the Jays have no money to work with. Even if we dealt Dioner for Cahill we'd still be taking on significant payroll for this year.
I don't know whether or not he'll make the Cards or not, but Carlos Villanueva might fill a spot nicely either as the 5 or swingman if Estrada makes the rotation. His deal has him making $2 million if he makes the roster with the Cards.

The Jays are not going to be able to afford those contracts, unless the other team either takes back equal salary or eats a large portion of it.
AA specifically mentioned pitchers on minor league deals who have opt outs if they don't make their teams, so that's probably the avenue they'll take, if any. Carlos Villanueva, Kevin Slowey, etc, types should be available if they can't make their respective teams. That's probably the best the Jays can do if they go outside the organization, unless they actually trade Navarro for something useful.

Definitely won't be anyone making significant money. AA will look to dumpster dive after guys without options are put on waivers by other clubs when the season starts. Very hard to see any such option actually be better than internal options.

So AA is going to acquire the poorly assembled chinese knock-off of Cole Hamels? Is that like Cliff Lee with one stitch holding him together.
