Maybe Dickey/Estrada/Buehrle will hold them to 6 runs a game this series to give us a chance. Going to be tough, though, because unlike Cleveland, New York can actually hit a bit.

Blue Jays have the highest starter ERA in baseball... 5.7 ERA in 26 starts... Behead anthopolous before he grows another chin, fat bastard.

Francis survives again, but those moves were pretty expected after today's game. Officially 1/2 on the Castro/Osuna experiment (so far).

At least Delabar and Jenkins have pitched well at the MLB level before. By some chance, we might be lucky enough to have that happen again (although who am I kidding).

Only this organization could manage to have the best offense in baseball and still look to finish last in their division. Such an incredibly frustrating couple of years.

edit - Did some basic research and had to go back to 2008 to find a team that had the best offense in baseball but finished below .500. That was your 79-83 Texas Rangers. Here's how the rest of the top two offenses in baseball since then have faired every year.

2014 - Angels (wildcard), Tigers (division)

2013 - Red Sox (division), Tigers (division)

2012 - Rangers (wildcard), Yankees (division)

2011 - Red Sox (choked away division/wildcard to finish 90-72), Yankees (division)

2010 - Yankees (wildcard), Red Sox (3rd place, 89-73)

2009 - Yankees (division), Angels (division)

2008 - Rangers (79-83, 2nd in West), Cubs (division)

If you have a top two offense you're almost assuredly a wildcard team. At the absolute worst you're the 2008 Texas Rangers or a couple of unlucky 3rd place finishes from the Red Sox.

The Jays had the best pitching in baseball in 2008 and also somehow missed the playoffs (86-76). We never fit these things together.

Our pitching has been so bad, chances are it can't get any worse. But by the time it normalizes the offence will probably dry up and we will end up 4th in the division again. Toronto sports at its finest....

Can't believe Francis wasn't DFA'd, and am rather perplexed Castro was sent to Buffalo instead of New Hampshire.

Delabar and Jenkins should be upgrades... hopefully big ones.

This post by Gerry at the box echoes my thoughts on Pete Walker:

I thought that the Jays should have let Walker go after last season and I was surprised when he came back. We don't have a lot of visibility into what a pitching coach does, all we can look at are results. What am I looking at when I wonder what Walker does?

Has any pitcher learned a new pitch from Walker?

Has any pitcher embraced a pitching philosophy to help him improve from Walker?

Has any pitcher taken an unexpected jump forward thanks to Walker?

Has Walker rescued any pitcher who seemed lost?

I just don't see any track record of success. Dickey and Buehrle don't really need a pitching coach. Stroman had to go to the minors to get "right". Walker couldn't fix Jeffress, Delabar, Santos, Romero or Drabek. Who has Walker helped?

Then we look at guys like Morrow, Rogers, etc that turn to gold once they leave our team. It's really time to move on, and no one could fault the Jays for doing so with how crummy the pitching has been.

I don't think AA and co. have given up on any of the kids yet, Castro included. Step one will be fixing something they've identified in BUF. If that happens they'll be back in town to give it another go. Only if they can't adjust or after coming back they flop again, will they get put back into development. This isn't that yet, it's a coaching/conditioning stint, something like that. JMO
