We also finish the year with a steady diet of AL East. The upside: after this series, we go a full month without the **** Yankees, the **** Orioles, the **** Red Sox, or the **** Rays.

Playing so many games against the AL East is moronic. Especially with the wild cards, an unbalanced schedule favours the teams in Divisions with a bunch if bottom feeders.

Too bad MLB will change this the year when Toronto has a good team and the rest of the division are junk.

Agreed. This type of schedule would make sense if the Wild Card didn't exist. However, having two WC's and keeping the unbalanced schedule is ridiculous.

I like it. I don't care about fairness, I like playing the teams we all hate the most. I don't get why it has to be in such an unbalanced distribution, the feast or famine model, but I like that divisions still mean something and we get extra games against NY and BOS (don't care nearly as much about TB and BAL).

Let's not forget that Rogers loves this as well. They want the likes of NYY and Boston in the dome as much as possible. The Central division may be the strongest of the bunch. The West looks like a joke at this point though. Hard to fathom Houston continuing to play +.600 baseball for the remainder of the year. Not particularly worried about the AL East this year TBH.

no bautista tonight, who's 2-29 lifetime versus jimenez

also less opportunity for the orioles to try and murder him with a heater

2-29 is completely meaningless, lets not use silly justifications to defend Gibby's decisions.

Have to agree. I don't get it. Unless his shoulder is sore, it makes no sense. What if this was the final game of the season and the WC was at stake. Would Gibbons sit Jose if Jimenez was pitching? I doubt it so why would he do it now. It's not like Jose needs the rest. The guy is DHing. Pencil him in and stop getting so cute with the lineup. With our pitching, we need all the help we can get with the offense especially with someone who can give us instant runs with a swing of the bat. Someone needs to remind Jed Clampett that wins in May count as much as ones in September. Actually I meant August because in September, he usually feels a need to play every September call up in every game regardless of how important it is.

that's gibby's own justification

i had a big problem with martin languishing on the bench twice yesterday while thole went to bat, believe me i'd much rather have bautista in the line-up against any pitcher, his previous lack of success against them be damned.

It's not a huge deal either way. Maybe he just needs a day off; if he does, it may as well be against a guy he has a poor record against. Bottom line is we need him back in the field, not at DH.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Bautista's range is seriously declining and it wasn't great to begin with, his bat is what we need, not his defence.
