Blue Jays are reportedly interested Miami's Mat Latos who's a free agent at the end of the season... Might be a good buy low candidate since he's had an inconsistent season?

II don't know if it's that we love the soft-tossers as much as it is that Rogers loves the inexpensive (compensation) players with potential upside.

It says on the wiretap, "Blue Jays don't have interest in Latos".

Interesting... It's currently the top story on tsn.ca, and I can only see the basketball wiretap on my phone.

"Hey Miami, we have credit built up from the last deal we made, we'd like to cash out by acquiring Latos, deal?"

I'd rather have Dan Haren from Miami if he's made available.

Not that soft a tosser (phrasing?); his velocity and strikeout rate has rebounded a bit from last year. Still ugh, rentals.

AA's made nothing but waiver claims and minor league deals since the Happ/Saunders trade. I think he's maxed out on payroll, despite claims of the contrary to the media. I doubt he'll acquire anyone who makes money. Fiers makes sense since he's making around $500k, and will so again next year, but guys who make significant money, rentals or otherwise, don't seem that realistic at this point.
I said this a month ago, and I'll stick to it: Norris in the rotation, Sanchez in the pen, and Pompey in LF. Those will be the additions post-July 31st. Considering the alternative (trading prospects for short-term help), I could live with that. Rogers didn't increase payroll last year at this time when the team's chances of making post-season were far greater. AA's either going to get really creative with payroll or stand pat, and I'm guessing the latter (or maybe a Valencia type of trade where players who make nothing are swapped for each other).
