Hague has been fantastic at Buffalo but he is essentially a downgrade of Valencia. Unless Valancia was a cancer in the locker room (which he didn't appear to be) it assumes that keeping Loup from the get go was a mistake.

Pompey is hurt though so perhaps this is temporary. This team needs a 4th OF in the worst way imaginable.

He's played pretty much exclusively at third and first in Buffalo. According to his baseball-reference page he's been very sparsely used as RF ever. He's been one of the best hitters in the IL this year so if anything this is probably some sort of reward for that although aside from PH roles in Philly I couldn't imagine him doing anything else unless the idea is to get Donaldson a day off but with two off days alone this week that seems doubtful.
