Who is your ALDS MVP?

Post#1 » by Santoki » Thu Oct 15, 2015 4:53 pm

Since there is no official ALDS MVP award I figured we might as well crown one and use this space to discuss each guy's contribution to the series. Who would you crown as ALDS MVP?

Pillar. Though everyone had HUGE moments, he was the most consistently productive on both ends. You can't say Pillar won them the series or a single game by himself but he was the glue that set them up.

If there was such an award it would certainly go to Bautista but my personal choice was Chris Colabello. He was the only guy to show up in Game 2 and a huge part in keeping them in it. Then he hit everything in sight against all the lefties the rest of the way. He also played some very solid defense and came up with some key plays. I thought he was their best and most consistent player with Pillar a close 2nd.

I'd never vote MVP for a coach but he did a good job this series considering all the bs. Can't decide between Pillar and Bautista.

I voted Pillar and I'm glad someone else did as well. He wasn't flashy but he did so much for this team. His defense was outstanding. He drove in so many key runs to either win the game or keep us in it. He got huge hits whenever we needed. He had the hit streak going on. His homerun in game 4 was nice. He did a little bit of everything.

I've been so critical and hard on this guy all year but he has proven me wrong time and time again.

Stroman, Pillar or Bautista but there's so many little moments that turned it around. Like Tulo's homer and Dickey's performance the other day, Estrada was great in his one start.

Pillar probably the most consistent throughout the series I guess and possibly Stroman with two starts. The thing is, with this team they all have roles that came through.

For sure. I hated him for days after that awful at-bat vs the Yankees in that double header. I thought surely he was the dumbest player ever (seemed like it at that moment). But he had great at bats this series, and his usual great defensive plays. A force on both ends. Everyone else was touch and go but every game Pillar made a big play to keep us in it.

The Jays have five hitters in the top 18 in OPS in the playoffs so far:

6. Colabello (1.099)
9. Edwin (1.034)
13. Donaldson (.944)
15. Bautista (.941)
18. Pillar (.905)

Jose or Pillar were the 2 that jumped out for me. Given the huge hits Jose had in game 7 I'll go with him.

Over the course of the entire series, KP's the guy for me. Did a little bit of everything, came up with timely hits and had outstanding defense (including a huge play last night that held a runner at bay).

In terms of one dynamic play that left its mark on the series and will be the second-most memorable play (aside from the controversial run), then you give it to Bautista for his big HR. that was truly a triumphant moment not just for the team but for the entire city of Toronto. It won us the series.

I am giving love to Marco Acestrada. Last night doesn't happen without Estradas game 3 performance on the road, in an elimination game.

Has to be Stroman for me. For a guy making his fifth start of the season and first ever playoff starts, he didn't look fazed at all. Kept us in the game against Hamels in Game 5 and actually had a lead against Hamels in Game 2 (which the pen blew). I've been following Stroman as a prospect for a while now and always knew he was good, but he's basically become an ace now with that plus plus two-seamer that he added out of nowhere. Even if Price leaves this off-season, Stroman is definitely a guy you can build a new rotation around. His energetic attitude and enthusiasm are just a bonus.

The fact that everyone in this thread is all over the place about who deserves this title, shows why i love this team!!!!

big play after big play.

for our pitching staff it goes to either estrada or stroman

To our hitter and fielders, i got colabello, dude was consistent through and through, and kept pitchers honest...I really feel hes part of the reason they decided to bat at Jose in the 7th, they couldve walked Jose since they had an open base and take their chances with EE who hasnt done much up until this game (albeit the constant walks)...but they had 2 outs at that moment and i don't think they wanted to see EE and Chris so they chose Jose instead, due in large part to Collabelo's solid consistent hitting.

Pillar, Jose, donaldson, and Goins(defense) really get a S/O here tho.

This team is amazing.

RA Dickey.

Intangible stat. His knuckler ruined the balance of the Royals. Pitchers included.

Pillar was solid. I have to admit i never liked the guy ever since he first came up few years back. I thought he was one dimentional. Pompey was the future CF.
...... I gotta admit, Pillars really won me over. If Pompey is still the future CF, he has to earn the rite. He has to steal it from Pillar. Nothing should be just given. Thats how Pillar got here. He earned it.

Voted Gibbons for having the balls to go with the SP going the best right now in game 5 and not giving a **** about the consequences. Also because I have no idea who I'd pick out of the players. You could make a good case for Stroman, Pillar, Bautista, Donaldson, and Colabello.
