There were some controversial decision in the post season. He made some mistakes. Enough to replace him?
Feel free to post a suggested replacement if you vote no.

Gibby did a fine job with what he had. I didn't like his overly reliance on Sanchez and Osuna in the playoffs (still think bringing Sanchez to face a hitter with a runner in scoring position yesterday isn't a good move), but with Cecil out, there weren't really any other trustworthy pitchers in the pen. Aside from that, Gibby was pretty much flawless in the playoffs. He recognized the value of Cola's bat and played him regularly in the playoffs instead of Smoak. He kept the Estrada/Navarro pairing together even if it meant benching his $85 million catcher. I really hope AA or whoever takes over as GM makes rebuilding the pen a huge priority. We need another power lefty in there. But Gibby deserves a chance to return as manager next year for sure.

He should absolutely return. He's no Casey. He has a gameplan and knows how to utilize his players properly. We could do much worse. We had Buck Martinez as a manager after all.

Yes.
Seriously though, Managers don't mean a whole lot anyways -- Guys like Ned Yost and John Farrell prove that.

gibby has the backs of his players. He never criticizes them in the media. He never throw them under the bus. When you have a talented roster, this is more important than anything else.
Ever manager makes decisions that backfire. But they don't get to make these decisions in hindsight like critical fans do.
Overall Gibby has been very good manager, and this is coming from somebody who hated that he was rehired

Biggest impact a manager can make is probably with bullpen management. He did depend on Sanchez and Osuna a lot but what were the alternate options? With Cecil and Loup out for most of the post season it was slim pickings.

The people wanting Gibby fired are mostly bandwagoners who don't know how bad managers can be, try watching Cito in 2009/2010 and Farrel in 2011/2012 and then tell me how bad you think Gibby is.

lol what?
I'm actually pretty surprised by all the Gibby love in here because mostly all I heard the last few months
from most people is how bad he was. It did take us assembling an All-Star roster to finally win with him
and there is lots of things this team does that I don't like that good coaching could improve and that's
cutting down on the constant base running mistakes, not being able to lay down a proper bunt ever, having
good approaches at the plate and I don't like some of his defensive shifts. I've never heard any player past or
present ever give Gibbons credit for anything.
As for Cito he took over for Gibbons in 2008 and had a way better record than him with the same roster and the
Cito of 2009/2010 is also credited for taking a journeymen named Jose Bautista reworking his swing and plate approach
and turning him into one of the greatest Blue Jays ever, a perennial All-Star and a guy who's always considered an
MVP candidate. He's also credited with also helping Ediwn for becoming the hitter he has become.
Fans on this board used to hate him for not playing Arencibia, Snider and his handling of guys like Drabek, Morrow etc
but those guys sucked and did **** all since they've left.
Bashing Cito is really embarrassing imo

Cito was also the noted "player's manager" who created the toxic clubhouse that got him run out. The W-L means nothing. He is a good hitting coach though.

He didn't get "run out" he was never gonna be a long term solution because of his age. What was so "toxic" about the
clubhouse? Because he didn't communicate to Travis Sniders liking? John Gibbons got in a brawl with Ted Lilly and nobody
holds that against him.
If Roberto Alomar, Joe Carter, Jose Bautista and Edwin are telling people that he's the best coach they've ever played for
that should hold some merit with the fans and the 2 championships he won.
Why those things get overlooked because Joe fan doesn't like the way he "managed the bullpen" to their liking and
they deem him a bad manager is beyond absurd.
We have had so many bad coaches/managers across all the Toronto sports landscape and for some fans to put
Cito in the "bad" category is really embarrassing.

Forget the fact that you dislike Gibbons, or that he had an all-star roster... How can you fire the guy after reaching game 6 of the ALCS after a 22 year drought. Im not saying you extend him, but you dont fire the guy at this point. At worst he deserves to start next season. If the Jays dont reach their now heightened expectations, you Fire Him. Otherwise, Gibbons should keep his job. This is not even a question for him.
Jays are in a win now mode. They have a good thing going. Ride it until the wheels fall off.

He did a fantastic job this season (as he's done every season). You can count the number of mistakes he's made all year on one hand.

don't see why not. after a 93 win campaign and a run to the ALCS, even the most desperate armchair managers on this board would have a hard time recalling an egregious decision that actually ended up making a difference on the season as a whole.
really no issues at all with how he managed in the postseason either. maybe bringing in hawkins in game 4? though at some point in the playoffs, one of hawkins and tepera were going to be counted on to get the job done for an inning and they simply couldn't do it in a game where our starter couldn't even go two innings. if that's the worst decision gibby made all 11 postseason games then i think we could do far worse.

He definitely deserves to be back next year. Sure it sucks to get eliminated and he's made dumb decisions. But this guy loves his players and sticks up for them, gets himself ejected to prove a point. He's not the one pitching and blowing games etc. I'm actually one of the those who wasn't thrilled when the Jays rehired him. But he deserves to be back for continuity and familiarity as well. I hope we keep as much of the team together next year. Can't wait to see how we do. I'd love to have a rematch in the playoffs with KC again.

He made some strange moves, but at the end of the day if you fire him who do you replace him with? Don Mattingly???? No thanks.

Gibby proved that he knows how to handle his guys and that they support him. Sure some questionable calls, but every single manager or coach in any sport will have those moments. No one is perfect, and he handled the team well when injuries happened.

To be honest, I'm not sure
There's really no excuse for not being able to lay down a bunt when the situation calls for it, yet this team seemed unable to do so
That means the manager and coaches didn't have this team prepared

Game 6 of the ALCS and we fire him? When does he get credit? If he made the World Series? If he won the World Series?

not enough bunting practice, fire the manager
