Brady & Walker

Anyone listening to Brady & Walker on the Fan? Tearing Anthopoulos to pieces.....the Rogers spin machine is running full steam.
In summary......AA knew he was leaving so didn't care about the future, said screw it, just bet the farm (forgive the pun) and went for it. He traded all of the prospects. Moves weren't measured....overplayed the hand because he was leaving anyway. Basically got lucky. Put all the chips on the "red" and it came up.
Though maybe they've thought that way all along (I don't listen to the radio during the day very often).

Could you maybe recap, somewhat unbiasedly, what they actually said? Because from what I've heard from them since it all happened they've been relatively calm, level-headed and rational about the whole thing.

The only Rogers employee who criticized AA's deals was Arash Madani.
Everyone else at Rogers has been generally supportive of AA. McCown even invited Alex and his wife over for dinner.

I actually don't understand how Brady & Walker are still on the radio...I can't listen to them at all, I find them boring and they just ramble on about things. I hear their voices and I have to change the channel.
Damn I miss Tim & Sid on the radio in the afternoons!!!!
The Rogers spin machine is in full effect at the moment.....

To be fair, think i may have missed the context of what they were saying. I think they were trying to figure out what Shapiro's perspective is. It may not be their own. (Or it may, not sure)

McCown is a different kind of Rogers employee. He almost has diplomatic immunity with them.

Calm & level-headed? You must have missed their Greg Brady's rant that was directly fired at TSN employees... bragging about how Sportsnet's ratings are so much higher than TSN's currently.
Well duh of course Sportsnet's ratings are higher when they have a monopoly on the Jays throughout the summer.

Yup. He apologized the following day and said it was the 2nd worst time he has even blown up in his 18 years in the business, or something to that effect. It was petty, childish and pretty idiotic imo.

No joke this is my reaction every time I listen to these guys:

walker is a good guy, i generally agree with most of his takes on sports. brady's cool too, just don't agree with him as much. both know more about sports than pretty much anyone else at the station imo. and yes more than that obnoxious kiss-ass seixeiro and dumb question machine tim micallef, who does know his stuff too. blundell is good for a laugh or two in the morning but that's about it. and the guys on PTS don't watch much sports at all, clearly. i don't get the hate for b&w honestly.

I honestly used to really dislike their morning show. I couldn't even listen to the Fan before 9am. But, since their time slot change I've given them a chance and I think they've improved the show a lot. Their approach to sports in the city and in general is pretty rational. They aren't really entertaining at all like Tim & Sid. I think you really have to have a different approach to sports to enjoy Brady & Walker but I find myself nodding along to most of what they say in terms of sports in general. The only other guy I can listen to for any length of time is Brunt. I think he knows his stuff pretty well (and that ranges across a lot of sports including soccer) and he can always pull back the sideshow/entertainment guys into a real, informative discussion. The rest of the roundtable guys I can't stand especially Shannon. I have no idea why that guy gets so much airtime.

I heard it and I honestly didn't think it was that bad of an "outburst" or rant. Ya, it was stupid and needless but they obviously got sick of people calling them shills when they do their fair share of criticizing the team/management when it's needed. I at least understood where the anger was coming from. They apologized and I'll move on pretty quickly from that. But, that had nothing to do with the actual AA saga itself. I thought their take on it was what we needed. Yes, it sucked but there's nothing we can really do, understand both sides, unfortunate end to a great season, now let's move on and see what the new regime can do.

I think the 1-4 timeslot seems to bring out the best. Tim and Sid were ok when they were here, now I can't stand them. I think I dislike Sid most as he is trying way too hard to have a take, also Sid was the one that completely wrote off the Jays in the beginning of this past season.

Arash Madani is a slob who doesn't know anything about baseball, let alone sports.
The people bashing AA for his moves are the people who want to feel good about themselves and buy into Shapiro's vision. I'm not saying Shapiro doesn't know what he's doing - I think he does and I actually think he will do a decent job here but him and AA weren't going to work, that was clear.
Another thing - Steve buffery... this guy always asks Canada and Toronto questions. This guy should work at Wal-Mart. Makes us all look like fools.

Arash Madani is ok but seems more like he is better at Tennis and those other periphery sports. I much rather listen to him on McCowan then the moron hockey-puck Damion Cox.
I think it's almost like it's some secret pact amongst canadian reporters to include one Canada related question. Not so much fools but more like desperate.

McCown is contracted by, and not an employee, of Rogers. They know if they tried to push him in any direction he doesn't want to go, he would simply take his talents to Bell/TSN and destroy the drive home ratings at FAN.

Ya, maybe it's something about that timeslot that just works. You've had the morning to cool down and are generally more relaxed. I can't stand Tim & Sid on TV. You're right, Sid is especially bad right now.

Its not just McCown. Almost every on air personality at TSN and Sportsnet are under contract and technically are not employees of Bell Media or Rogers.
