The Blue Jays, Yankees and Dodgers have talked of a trade with Cleveland involving one of either Carrasco, Salazar, Bauer in exchange for an everyday Outfielder.
The Yankees are offering Brett Gardner and Dodgers offering Puig. Its not sure who Toronto is offering. Assuming Bautista is off the table, it has to be a top prospect, as Revere and Pillar just dont compare with the other offers.... Maybe Pompay or Alford would be involved?
Shapiro knows those pitchers very well and they are all top of the rotation talents with years of control. AA reportedly had a Carrasco trade that fell apart just before he took David Price.
Anyway, what could the Jays offer be?..... Lets start guessing.

I wouldn't mind if they picked up Josh Tomlin.

If we can get Carrasco, I really don't care who we trade.

I think you would. It would be an ungodly large package that would likely decimate a decent portion of our affordable roster players AND prospects. Guys like Carrasco would come at an absurd cost. Like Pillar + Goins + Travis + Alford + several pitching prospects....enough so that it would decimate the team. The reality is that the Jays really don't match up well with the Indians for trades as the guys we have a slight abundance of (Pillar/Pompey) won't carry the necessary trade value to tempt a team like Cleveland to trade well. And the Jays aren't going to get guys cheap from them right after poaching their former President/GM.

It definitely won't be Kluber or Carrasco. I'd imagine the Indians are dangling Trevor Bauer, I'd much rather pass.

I'll take Danny Salazar, cause we probably won't be getting Kluber or Carrasco

The New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays are among the teams to discuss trade possibilities with the Indians this offseason, according to major-league sources. The general framework of those deals would involve Cleveland trading from its estimable rotation depth to acquire an everyday outfielder.
While the precise proposals remain unknown, the following possibilities could be in play:
● The Yankees can move Brett Gardner, now that they’ve obtained Aaron Hicks from Minnesota. Gardner, an All-Star this year, has the versatility to play left or center field. But he’s guaranteed $39.5 million through 2018 — an unwieldy sum for the low-budget Indians, unless the Yankees include cash in the exchange.
● The Dodgers’ outfield logjam persists, with high earners Carl Crawford, Andre Ethier and Yasiel Puig available to varying degrees. Ethier is coming off a productive season in a regular (although not everyday) role, while injury-plagued years for Crawford and Puig diminished their trade value. Scott Van Slyke’s right-handed bat could fit Cleveland’s roster, depending on Chernoff’s other moves.
● The Blue Jays face an intriguing decision in center field: Do they believe enough in Dalton Pompey’s future to trade Kevin Pillar — a Gold Glove-caliber defender — following his career year? Or, conversely, are they committed enough to Pillar that they can part with Pompey, who turns only 23 next month and was their Opening Day center fielder this year? (For now, at least, a trade involving one of Toronto’s corner outfielders -- Ben Revere or Jose Bautista — seems unlikely.)
A trade between Cleveland and Toronto would be fascinating, given the political intrigue surrounding Mark Shapiro’s departure from the Indians to become president and CEO of the Blue Jays.
But if both sides see value in a trade, undoubtedly they’ll look beyond the public-relations complexities. The Blue Jays must plan their rotation as if David Price isn’t coming back, and the Indians need to start work on their most glaring need.

Makes sense, given we could possibly have up to five everyday outfield options by the end of spring training (Pillar, Revere, Bautista, Saunders, Pompey). Moving one of them and filling a position of need would probably be a smart thing to do.
The question then becomes which one of their SP's is available between Kluber, Salazar, Carrasco and Bauer. I'd ideally like to hope it's Carrasco and Shapiro can somehow get him for less than perceived value. But that's highly variable, so we'll have to see.

Shapiro/LaCava needs to pull off a Donaldson type trade but lets see if he has the persistence of AA.

I'd rather we trade Revere than move Pillar or Pompey. Revere is getting very expensive and brings very little actual value to the table. His high batting average fools everyone, but Revere is basically a step better than a replacement level player. If some team bites on Revere, I'd give Pompey the job in left field. Plus, don't forget we also have Saunders.

So you'd rather give up a guy that is a borderline non-tender than one of two guys with a combined 11 years of team control remaining, one of which nearly won a gold glove in CF, and the other who was ranked the 30th overall prospect coming into this season. No shjt!! And for that same reason, we're not going to get anything of value for Revere. Everybody else wants good, cheap players too.

I realize that. My post was directed more towards Jays fans that overrate Revere to the point where they think he's better than Pillar lol. I wish batting average wasn't treated like such a valuable stat among some fans, but it unfortunately is. But like you said, I doubt many teams offer us much for Revere. But we may have to move him anyway just to lose his salary.

If Pillar somehow lands us Carrasco, we should put his number up in the ring of honour.

There was talk that Jays had a deal for Carrasco at the deadline before Cleveland backed off. So the Jays should have the pieces to pull this off, or atleast get their attention.

We traded away the pieces to pull this off when we went after Price.

Thats true.
But we traded pitchers to Detroit. Cleveland wants outfielders. We have an excess of good young outfielders. Pompay, Alford, Pillar are highly regarded younsters.... Saunders and Revere not so much, but they may make it easier for Jays to deal one of thos other youngsters.
