Power shift? Ugh this is somewhat sad. I guess I got used to the big names. Was glad to get rid of Happ and now we signed him back. Great.

If Happ can do whatever he did in Pittsburgh this is a steal. Plus he was solid in Seattle and Toronto just before he left, so he's built a reasonable track record. At that price, solid deal.

Good value. Nice addition as long as there is more coming. Another starter, multiple relievers still to get done

How much more do we have to spend now after this signing?

Instead of spending money on better players and becoming a true contender, we are content being a fringe playoff team

Happ and Chavez is underwhelming as ****!

If Happ performs like he did with Pittsburgh, he represents good value. If he performs like when he was in Seattle, the Jays have way over-paid. Jays do need lefties, so I sure hope he works out.

Marco Estrada made $4.7 million. $12 million is the cost of FA pitching for the type of numbers Happ put up last year. Whether he can repeat it is up to debate but it's not a gross overpay.

Would have been nice to be able to take that Saunders trade back. That's an ugly one in hindsight.

I like this deal, good value and could be huge if he can repeat what he did in 2015. 2015 rotation: Stro/ free agent ? / Estrada/ Happ/ Dicky/ Chavez/ Sanchez/ Hutch. If we can sign a decent #2 pitcher, I think we'll be in good shape. If we don't sign a #2 pitcher, we need to hope everyone in the rotation repeats their performances from last year and no major injuries.

I'm guessing this means Price is out of reach for the Jays. If they can somehow land a 2/3 type pitcher, then the rotation doesn't look THAT bad (though, of course, a far cry from having Price in the rotation...).

I can live with something like Stroman/Chen/Estrada/Dickey/Chavez or Happ.

Trade Dickey and Thole and sign Leake next.

In a vacuum it's a good signing but a bit unsettling when you consider it means we won't be getting a top guy.

I hope they can sign at least one more decent starter so Chavez can start in the bullpen and Hutchison doesn't need to be relied upon in anyway.
