Who needs Price or Navarro when you can have Josh Thole.

Unless Dickey is traded, in which case:

That's good I guess..as long as Martin doesn't get hurt.

$800K for the backup catcher that can catch the knuckleball is good value. It's a pay cut from last year IIRC. I guess we're not trading Dickey.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

By stats alone, Thole is the rare player who can be overpaid at $800k, but catching the knuckler and the generally undifferentiated pile of refuse that is the catching market makes this okay.

So does the October parade go down Yonge Street or up Bay Street?

I dont see why this is so bad.
Thole made 1.75 million under AA. Shapiro got him for 800k.

Obviously this is not a guy thats gonna make-or-break the season for us. That Jays are relying on Dickey heavily next season and no other Catcher can handle him. If Martin can some how figure Dickey out, great, send Thole to the minors. Otherwise let Thole warm the bench. Just means more play time for Martin. Theres nothing to lose here. At that price, win win move.
