Post#1 » by dagger » Sat Jan 9, 2016 3:13 am

Deal apparently includes a player to be named later to the Nats, and cash to the Jays

it's being said more as fact than rumour.

edit: Ken Rosenthal's calling it a deal.

We lose our speed leadoff guy, but greatly improve BP

Possible implications: Sanchez to rotation? Saunders and Pompey get to battle it out for starting LF, but both now assured of making roster.

So who leads off? Travis wasn't particularly comfortable there?

I hate to see Revere go, but it will give Pompey a chance to take another step. And I guess Saunders IS still a thing. lol Really like adding Storen though. I've been a big fan of his and I think he's an awesome shot to our bullpen.

I really like this deal, improves the bullpen significantly. I always thought Revere was a bit overrated for what he provides.

He certainly didn't overwhelm in the ALCS, whereas the pen, especially after Cecil's injury, was a major issue.

I played a lot of mlb the show and drew storen had a really good rating. So this is a good thing I guess? Lol.... I liked revere but if the bullpen is that much better it's worth it... Revere was pretty good in the outfield for us but there weren't many occasions where I could say he made a significant impact as the lead off guy... He didn't even steal that many bases for us... I was a fan but fair trade I think.

Deal is official. Nats get Revere and player to be named later while Blue Jays gets Storen and cash.

According to a Washington beat writer, the Jays also are sending the Nats a PTNL, and the Jays get cash.

Maybe it's because I don't think Revere is all that good, but this seems like a great trade for us.

Even if Revere's market value is higher than my perceived value, this should still qualify as good use of resources.

I'll bet the PTNL will l be decided by the amount of cash sent to Toronto to cover the difference between arb outcomes for the two players.

I'm a big fan of this trade. Revere was good for the few months we had him, but Pompey/Saunders will be an almost as effective replacement and our bullpen just got a pretty big upgrade. I'd prefer if Pompey got the majority of games in left, though he's definitely not ready to hit at the top of the order, so I guess Tulo is going to be leading off for a while again until Travis is healthy.

Seems like a good deal for both sides. Storen's really going to help the pen and he also opens up the possibility of Sanchez going back to the rotation.

Solid trade. Revere was getting expensive, and doesn't really bring much to the table aside from a high batting average. A healthy Saunders should be able to replace Revere's production. If not, we always have Pompey as a fallback option. Storen should be a huge boost for the bullpen. Should be interesting to see if they use him in a closer's role.

I'm going to miss him. He seemed like a great clubhouse guy but with arb and the log jam in LF I think the writing was on the wall.

I'm surprised we were able to fllip him for a solid bp piece. Love it

would it be sanchez or osuna? he seems to me to be the most wasted in the bullpen, especially if he loses the closer role because of this.
