Spring Training

Post#1 » by kasrahimi » Wed Jan 13, 2016 7:22 pm

Long time lurker, first time creating a thread. I'm thinking of attending Spring Training this year and was wondering if any of you have attended in the past. I'm looking at buying a 3-game flex pack. Seems like a nice opportunity to soak in some sun while watching the team from up-close.

For those that have been in the past, what are some of the PROS and CONS of attending Spring Training?
If so, how many games have you attended?
What's the atmosphere like?
When is the best time to go, i.e. beginning, middle or tail-end of ST

Please feel free to point out anything I may have missed :D

I've been to spring training in the past, not specifically the Blue Jays because where in Florida I happened to be at the time. However, I've seen the White Sox, Pirates, Marlins, etc. I had a good time, gives you an opportunity to speak with the players before the game and possibility to see some of the teams prospects who may or may not make the big club. I'm not sure it matters much when you go, however if you go later in spring training you probably have a better opportunity of checking out the more mlb ready rosters because some roster cuts will have been made throughout spring training.

I went once when I was teenager and it was really fun, wasn't a pure baseball trip but stayed near Dunedin and got to got to two games and say hi to the players and stuff. This thread got us talking about it last night and looking forward to planning a trip down in the next couple years when my 2 boys are a bit older.
