Jays sign Maicer to minor league deal

If Izturis is added to the 40-man roster, he gets a 1-year, $900,000 contract.
Also, he can earn up to $100,000 in plate-appearance based incentives.
He gets an additional $25,000 for each of the following number of plate appearances reached: 300, 325, 350, 375

If he gets 300 plate appearances, paying the $25,000 bonus will be the least of the Jays' concerns! I hope they're just humouring him since he's our third string utility infielder.

He was suppose to start at 2B when AA signed him from LAA few years back. If he can stay healthy he is a very very good player off the bench...... Barney is the better defender but Maicer is a complete veteran.

Which was a brutal decision. That season, he put up one of the worst seasons by WAR of any player in the modern era. It was the first and only time in his career he was ever anything other than a utility infielder, and since then he has missed two entire seasons. We'd be better off sticking Garth Iorg out there.
