Re: Around the MLB 2017
(Prior to tonight) LA Angels, overall: .242/.317/.379.
LA Angels, if you subtract Trout: .232/.300/.342.
That might not seem like much. Both suck! But for one player to be worth more than 50 goddamned points of team OPS while receiving only 10% of their plate appearances is astounding. The net result is that only three players on the Angels (out of fifteen position players and three pitchers to appear at the plate) are above the team's average.
If anyone suggests that Trout isn't the world's most obvious MVP because the Angels are merely a .500 team, I will cut them. Yes, that remains true even given that he will not maintain this pace.

From what I can tell, as far as fWAR/game for his career, Trout is only second to Babe Ruth

Next to Syndergaard, we are likely to hear of his success for many years to come.
Ease up there.
He's literally had 1 good pitching outing.

Re: Around the MLB 2017
Farrell, even when he won the 2013 World Series in his first year with the Sox, was not popular in all corners of the clubhouse. Some players, but not all, believe that he does not stand up for them strongly enough to the media when the team is struggling, sources say. Some also question Farrell’s game management, talk that exists in virtually every clubhouse, some more than others.
Two incidents this season, though, raised questions about Farrell’s leadership.
The first occurred during the Red Sox’s prolonged dispute with the Orioles’ Manny Machado. Second baseman Dustin Pedroia, after Matt Barnes threw at Machado’s head, shouted across the field to Machado, “it wasn’t me,” then told reporters that it was “definitely a mishandled situation,” without mentioning Barnes or Farrell by name. Orioles general manager Dan Duquette later told a Boston radio station, “The pitcher threw the ball. But the manager needs to be in charge of his ballclub.”
The second incident occurred last Saturday, when Farrell engaged in a heated exchange with left-hander Drew Pomeranz in the dugout. Pomeranz, continuing his rocky season, had been removed after throwing 97 pitches in four innings. He seemingly had little reason to complain. But his willingness to publicly challenge Farrell, in an exchange captured by television cameras, offered another indication that the manager and some of his players are not always on the same page.
Maybe this all goes away soon; the Red Sox are talented enough to start playing better and end any questions about Farrell’s status. But a manager’s job security in Boston almost always seems like a day-to-day proposition, given the intensity of the media and fan base.
Dombrowski has ignored the noise and consistently supported Farrell, but the longtime exec also is pragmatic.
If Dombrowski senses a change is necessary, he’ll make a change. No matter how it looks. No matter which questions arise.

Re: Around the MLB 2017
MILWAUKEE - The Blue Jays are still last in the American League East, still riddled with injuries and have undisputedly suffered through among the worst two-month stretches to open a season in franchise history.
But that doesn't mean the front office has any plans to tear the team apart in the middle of the season. Instead, general manager Ross Atkins on Wednesday said he’s still committed to bolstering the lineup to challenge for a third consecutive playoff berth.
“We’re focused on adding and winning,” Atkins said prior to the afternoon game against the Brewers here at Miller Park. “We’re focused on what’s the best thing for us sustaining a championship organization and environment.”
“Five days ago, roughly, we were 18 and 24 and a year ago we were 19 and 23 on the same day, so one game different,” Atkins said. “We need to go on a run, (but) the division fortunately hasn’t completely run away from us and we’re still very much in it. We absolutely need to go on a run sometime soon.”
Atkins stressed that management is nowhere near a point of deciding to be buyers or sellers and that the clear intention is to add rather than subtract, especially if the team can inch closer to contention.
“There is no concrete timeline that we have to make a decision by because it all depends on the division and how were playing,” Atkins said. ““We remain absolutely focused on adding and winning.”

Re: Around the MLB 2017
Trout's stats page has now replaced Barry bonds' stats page for me when I need my stats porn fix.
If he does this for 4 more years, wins 3 more MVPs and pulls a Calvin Johnson, I would have no problem calling him the GOAT.

Harper charging the mound and fighting Strickland after getting hit - We need more of this as it was pretty entertaining until teammates came running onto the field.

I know he's pitching like a dumpster fire but I might be inclined to try him out again. He has a good arm
