Give it a couple years. Boston's projected payroll, with no returning Kimbrel or Eovaldi, is $212m. As ungodly as that team was this year, even their money can't keep that talent together.

Quite the list of arbitration eligible players they have this off season.

Surprised Pearce didn't tear a tendon lifting that trophy.

And what a travesty that I'll never get to hear Gibby give a speech before getting the world series trophy. That would be amazing.

That they didn't give the World Series MVP to David Price is very surprising...

Yup. And Dombrowski knew exactly what he was doing too, trading cost controlled prospects for Sale, Kimbrel, Kinsler and others along with the inking th Price and Martinez contracts. He went all in for the short term but you got to hand it too him, he got a WS out of it. Now the hard part of his job begins.

The Memphis Redbirds are back in the market for a manager.

Stubby Clapp, the two-time defending Pacific Coast League Manager of the Year, is headed to St. Louis. On Monday, the Cardinals announced Clapp's hire as the team's new first base coach.

Clapp joins a Cardinals staff with multiple coaches that have ties to the Redbirds. Manager Mike Shildt was the manager in Memphis in 2015-16. Pop Warner, St. Louis' third base coach, served as the Redbirds' skipper from 2012-14. Assistant hitting coach Mike Budaska was the hitting coach in Memphis from 2008-18. Bullpen coach Bryan Eversgerd served as the Redbirds' pitching coach from 2013-17.

In two seasons as Memphis' manager, Clapp went 174-107 (.619), and the team won the 2017 and 2018 Pacific Coast League Championships and the 2018 Triple-A National Championship. The 174 wins between two regular seasons were the most in a two-year span by Memphis clubs since 1933-34.

Congrats to Chris Woodward. New manager of the Tx Rangers. I am inexplicably optimistic about this hire.

Article on fangraphs the other day, that is interesting/concerning. I don’t think this company is good news...

Absolutely! Over 3000 hits and he did all of this when he came to the majors at age 27. Incredible.. Great arm and great defense as well. He has to be one of the greatest of all time. Couldn't have ended it any better. Ending it in your home country in front of thousands of your fans. Pretty incredible.. HOF for sure.

Between Goldschmidt's new deal and now the RedSox locking up Sale (on top of the obvious big 3),, the fairly loud accusations of collusion in MLB from just this past offseason, seem like a very long time ago. Maybe it's just me, but I can't remember money being thrown around at this level ever.
