R.A Dickey: enough is enough
How long will the Jays tolerate this. The guy is not even suitable to be the 5th man in the rotation and yet Jays are parading him out as a front line starter. Plus giving Thole starts against the other teams top pitchers while at it. Dickey is done and he is basically occupying 2 roster spots. It's just not worth it.
I know they gave up a lot for him, but it's time to cut their losses and move on, for the best of the team.
Hutchison did not dominate his spot start, but as the 5th man in the rotation, that is tolerable. Dickey is an automatic blow out waiting to happen.

Hey, worked for Buehrle.
Dickey had an ERA of 4.87 pre all-star break and 2.80 post all-star last year. Similar splits in 2013. Maybe he just takes a while to get going.
Then again maybe he's old and done. Too soon to tell though.

What reliable innings eater would the Jays be signing with Dickey's money?
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

The time to move on from Dickey was in the offseason when you could get a reliable backup catcher and find a half-decent starter for depth. At this point you have to hold on ad hope he starts turning it around with the warmer weather coming.

In foresight, too.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Re: R.A Dickey: enough is enough
Dickey is indefensible at this point.
- results are atrocious, even for him
- not throwing many innings, which is supposed to be his biggest positive
- is 41, will he miraculously cover again later in the year?
- Thole - Thole - Thole!
After the debacle in the playoffs last year and all the games he single-handedly gave away in the first few months of the year, I was shocked he was brought back. If it was AA still in charge I would understand if pride was in play, but with a new front office I was optimistic they'd make the right call.
And yeah, you can buy all kinds of reclamation wild cards for $12M (see Floyd at $2M). I'd much, much rather bring 3-4 of those guys to spring training and let them fight it out for a spot (along with Hutch).

Re: R.A Dickey: enough is enough
It was a mistake extending Dickey for another year. I could care less about the 200+ innings. He was horrible in the playoffs last year. Floyd/Hutch could have been our 5th starter, and we could have used that money to go after a reliever and catcher. (either via FA or a trade.)

Man I love the fans in this town. Everyone absolutely killed Hutch last year and rightly so and suddenly people wanted that guy to be in our rotation. And then Floyd is signed and everyone screams nepotism as the only reason for him being on the team. Now both those guys would be lockdown 5th starter material. I swear it's like people forget what happened with this team before July 31st of last year and the absolute dreck we had to resort to throwing out there when inevitable injuries popped up in the rotation.
I want Dickey traded just so I don't have to read this **** every 5th day for the first two months of the year. Dickey isn't going to get traded so if everyone could just shut the **** up about it already that would be great. We really don't need a recap of the trade from four years ago and what your offseason GM plans would have been that would have been better than an actual experienced person who works in baseball and is a two-time EOY.
Enough is enough of garbage threads like this. Keep it on the Raps board.

Nothing at all wrong with people expressing their frustration over a guy who essentially provides a guaranteed loss every fifth day, particularly when said guy was acquired for a top flight prospect that is now a legitimate #1 guy and second top flight prospect who played like an all-star last year.
If our front office had made the right call we wouldn't be subjected to this crap performance every fifth day.

Dickey has been a great innings eater the past 3 years. Good luck finding somebody better for even close to the same money.
It's funny the amount of stress Dickey has caused everybody on here basically since the moment he stepped on the mound for the first time in a Jays uniform, but he's been overall a really good pitcher all three years. Yeah, he's not doing good in 2016, but people have been crying wolf about him for way too long to take anybody seriously.

I came to post this because every thread on this site is becoming about RA Dickey. He sucks...we get it. Every time I read a post I don't need a recap of who we traded him for. We all know it. And the OP goes on thread-creating binges just so people will see his opinion like it's worth something.
