screenshotAfter seeing their offense quieted by one National League West opponent, the Toronto Blue Jays will try to get untracked against another team from that division when they open a three-game series against the host San Francisco Giants on Monday. The Blue Jays dropped two of three to the Los Angeles Dodgers over the weekend, scoring two runs in each of the last two games.
Toronto was held to three runs or fewer for the 15th time, dropping to 2-13 in such games following Sunday's 4-2 setback. Despite the offensive struggles, Kevin Pillar is 7-for-17 with a homer, four doubles and six RBIs during a four-game hitting streak. San Francisco's bats also were muted over the weekend, squeezing out a 2-1 win in 13 innings on Saturday before dropping a 2-0 decision the following day in a four-game split against visiting Colorado. Hunter Pence went 6-for-12 with a pair of three-hit performances versus the Rockies.

Pillar leading off again even against a RHP. Gibby doesn't learn.
Also not sure what Barney needs to do in order to steal starts from Goins.

Sanchez continues to sport a good K rate. Very promising. But the walks still remain a key concern.

Entering tonight Goins was 5-64 with 4 walks since April 14th. Not sure how hot Barney needs to get to win the job over that type of production.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we win yesterday's game if Floyd pitched in the 8th. At least he did today.

If the bullpen only blew half as many games as they have we'd be 22-12.
Another frustrating offensive performance. Hopefully the starters can keep this up because it's absolutely incredible what they're doing right now.

How did Jays only score three runs on a really struggling pitcher? Why do they make opposing pitchers look like Cy Young?

Hard to put big innings together with Tulo/Martin/Goins/pitcher going in the 6-9 spots. Tulo and Martin simply need to find their bats but watching Gibby stick Goins out there game after game is pretty frustrating.

Been super impressed with him. Cleveland narrative be damned(although he only pitched there 7 times)
Until Storen figures out his velocity issues and slider grip, he shouldn't be used in any high leverage situations.

You can bury Goins bad bat on last years team. Goins had a fluke run at the end of last year and this is part of a regression to the mean. He's just bad at the plate. The big return on Goins is singles too so it's not like he makes up for it with world water speed. Can't wait for Travis but Barmey should be getting the majority of starts, errors and all.

You could bury his bat last hear but he even offset that by hitting well above his career norms the final 3 months of the season.
Gibbons is just far too committed to Goins. Hes being treated like a good hitter going through a rough patch which would mean that Gibby is ignoring his entire track record.

He's been losing at-bats to Darwin Barney, and hasn't batted outside of the bottom third of the order all season. He's a utility infielder that's being treated as a utility infielder. If/when Travis returns, Goins will be riding the pine. Gibby is far from perfect, but I don't see how he could or should have done anything different with regard to Goins.

We've even seen Goins start against LHP a few times. I think Gibby has been giving him treatment far ahead of a utility infielder or else he'd be playing our other utility infielder ahead of him on a more consistent basis.
