Just got a Score app notification.

No idea what we're giving up.

Judging by how he's playing, his age and his contract the Braves better be giving us something.

Right-hander Sean Ratcliffe is the minor leaguer in question, Murray tweets. The 21-year-old has yet to climb higher than Low-A ball in his career. Toronto selected Ratcliffe in the 18th round of the 2013 draft, and he’s posted a 4.91 ERA with 6.5 K/9 against 5.3 BB/9 in 62 1/3 professional innings. If there’s no cash in the deal, the Blue Jays will be taking on an additional $2.62MM worth of salary in the swap.

I can't imagine anyone has watched a Braves game this year, but that's what scouts are paid for. Does this guy have any upside?

Maybe being healthier? Had an Achilles injury last season...

Upside? At 39? Also, Braves picking up most of his salary, so this is basically a look-see at a likely DFA.

Has there ever been a 39 year old with upside?

This is a trade that makes sense for both clubs.
Atlanta saves a bit of money even with absorbing the money, and gets a somewhat prospect with limited potential, plus he's just a prospect not a even a top prospect. there will be plenty of prospects after the draft.

Hopefully he's still got something left to pitch in the 7,8,9 (if needed)

I thought I remember using an upside argument when we acquired Dickey.

2.94 ERA last year. Just wondering if he's done, or if has a chance at helping us for a year.

Also, don't hate on the great Bartolo Colon, who had plenty of upside @ 39 :D

I'm for any deal that gives us less Storen in late game situations. Or any situation for that matter.

He's walking a lot of batters this season so it's not exactly bad luck. People have no faith in Storan right now but much of his troubles have been exactly that as he's not walking batters.

Just another arm that is trying to figure things out on the fly just like the rest of them.

Grilli has always had a high walk rate, but he's taking it to extremes this year. He's still striking guys out a good clip, though.

Not a big fan of this move as it likely hurts our chances of getting a higher end arm or two at the deadline (if we're in it). I don't think Grilli will have a big positive impact in the interim, but we'll see.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

He has a higher K% than Wade Davis over the last two years. With this pen, it's more than worth a shot.

Like others have said, worth a shot. He can still strike guys out. Maybe a trade can reignite some fire in Grilli. Playing in Atlanta sure doesn't help anyone's psyche.
That's what she said.

Worth a shot considering nothing much was given up. Doubt he makes an impact though.

He's completely lost his command and velocity which would seem to be signs of an elbow injury, but maybe he can right the ship somehow. Looks like he's resigned to just pumping his diminished fastball down the middle in order to avoid as many walks as possible, but his secondary stuff is still getting K's when the batters get themselves behind in the count. It's a longshot, but hey, might as well give it a go.

We basically got him nothing, we need pen help and he's been decent in the past. Even if doesn't work out at least it was an attempt.
