Probable Pitchers:

Monday @ 7pm: Aaron Sanchez (10-1, 2.87 ERA) vs. Colin Rea (5-4, 5.01)

Tuesday @ 7pm: Marcus Stroman (8-4, 4.90) vs. Andrew Cashner (4-7, 4.79)

Wednesday @ 12:30pm: Marco Estrada (5-4, 2.94) vs. Luis Perdomo (4-4, 6.93)

Need to know:

This is the first time the Padres have ever visited Toronto. The Jays have played in San Diego on three previous occasions — 2013, 2010 and 2004 — winning five of nine games. . . . The Padres, 14 games under .500 and well out of the playoff race, are expected to be sellers ahead of the Aug. 1 trade deadline. Two of their biggest trade chips are Melvin Upton Jr. and Tuesday’s scheduled starter, Andrew Cashner. The Jays are rumoured to have interest. . . . The Jays are 11-6 in interleague competition this season, while the Padres are 4-7.

Jose Bautista is also expected to rejoin the starting lineup :eyebrows:

Andrew Cashner pitches a gem..... In his Blue Jay debut 8-)

We do need a sweep here. Lost two games on the O's this weekend on account of the offense being a no-show and Dickey imploding on Saturday.

Time to earn the pay day you're vying for Bats.

Had Bats not been so greedy, he likely could have signed a sizeable extension in the spring that would be worth more than the market is likely going to pay him now. Mind you, Edwin has only strengthened his case for more years and more $$$.

  • Make huge offer for Cashner tomorrow
  • Force Baltimore to up their offer
  • Cause him to be scratched for tomorrow
  • Rescind offer

8-)

Yeah, you'd think with SD in town that Atkins and Shapiro will be talking lots to the Padres about Cashner and/or Upton these next couple days.

He'd tell you its not greed but market value...

This could turn out to be a good situation for the Jays, he's got a mediocre season under his belt so far (lowest wRC since 2009) and now he's got just under half a season left to prove what he's worth. If he gets hot, we're just that much more dangerous, if he struggles a bit, we may be able to bring him back at a lower number.

Jose has more than earned a big contract. He still gets more than Edwin in my mind just from the massive numbers Jose put up. He had 4-5 seasons putting up value of $30 million+ seasons , two of them were worth 50-60 million. This has been the first year Edwin has put up better hitting numbers but the difference in fWar between them is only about 1 win this year and could be closer by seasons end, jose hasn't really had a hot streak this year that most hitters get.

Bautista has the right to be greedy, if that's what he is, however both him and Edwin signed for team friendly deals and outperformed those, their wouldn't be as much of a reason to do that this time because if it wasn't for them our team may not be where it is right now. If anything, Rogers not re-signing these players would be greedy.

Still not sure how Travis wasn't charged with an error after he bobbled that soft grounder a bit. If he comes up with it cleanly, it's an easy out.

Yeah Bautistaa been most successful in the 3 spot. Idk why gibbons just doesn't go with

Travis
Jd
Bautista
Edwin
Saunders
Tulo
Martin
Smoak
Pillar

And be done with it. No need to **** around with the lineup anymore.
