2016 final salary situation

Post#1 » by bluerap23 » Sun Aug 7, 2016 4:03 am

I am confused.

Cot's currently has total at 131 million. I don't think that is right because we were in that area before deadline deals. Sportrac has us adjusted to 157 million. I think it is off too. Has anyone here been looking at the numbers post-trade?

Spotrac is correct. It is the most reliable out there. Jays added 12 M in payroll with the deals made. I was skeptical of Rogers- but they came through when Shapiro requested the extra funds.

Alternatively, Shapiro might have done what AA did the year previous: retain a bit of the payroll for the deadline, when it effectively has a multiplier. $5m of available payroll at the beginning of the year allows one to get a player on a salary of around $14m by the time the deadline hits.

Isn't it really about next year and keeping the costs level for 2017, Liriano getting Dickey money and Upton getting Jose money??

Upton gets paid arond $3.5 million next season by the Jays. The Padres pick up the remainder. Plus we don't have a clue what the payroll will be either but I'm willing to bet that it jumps quite a bit and management already knows that will be happening.

Nurse is below average at best.
Masai is overrated.
I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

Come on man you're around here enough to know that Upton is only getting $5 million total from the time we traded for him and through 2017.

My bad, you are of course correct and it is even less money the Jays will be spending. The way he is playing it is appropriate it seems.
