To me I think we should try this line up because it gives us a much needed extra bat and a guy who can get on base and score

Travis
JD
EE
Joey
Tulo
Martin
Saunders
Pillar
Barney

I like Barney a lot in the line up. I know its dominate by right handers but we need our best hitters up. Barney has playe decent enough and in my opinion better than any other part time players. You can play him at 1st base and move EE back to DH.

I think it depends on who's pitching and who's hot but I'm still strongly against Travis leading off. Somehow he's still sitting at ZERO walks in almost 150 plate appearances for the season. He should be batting in an RBI spot not leadoff.

I would put Joey Bats before JD in your lineup. Joey likes to get on base. He is not really hitting like a clean up hitter right now.

Yeah definitely agree with that. Travis should be in an RBI spot for sure. I'd say Pillar but he doesn't really have the patience to be there. Maybe Barney?

No lineup tweaking will suddenly make these guys stop having poor at-bats. Which is basically what's going on right now. Guys are going up there with the wrong plan and information. They'll hack at pitches outside the zone and then take pitches right down the middle for strikes. It's brutal to watch. Offense has been very streaky this whole season, but this latest slump could end up sinking us entirely.

Well we just set a team record for strikeouts in a season, so whichever lineup gets us to stop **** striking out. Imagine the record if Smoak played more.

best lineup is probably

jose
jd
travis
edwin
martin
tulo
saunders
pillar
upton

in that order. but that being said, the team has been pretty trash offensively in general.

I like Barney a lot in the line up. I know its dominate by right handers but we need our best hitters up. Barney has playe decent enough and in my opinion better than any other part time players. You can play him at 1st base and move EE back to DH.

Barney's value is his defense. Even after his crazy-hot start, he's back to what he was; a very bad hitter. I'm starting to think he and Martin switched bodies for the first 6 weeks of the season. Since then, he's been one of the worst hitters in baseball. So... no, he isn't gonna play 1B. Upton should be in the OF instead of Bautista. And if not him, Carrera is about as bad a hitter as Barney, but he at least helps keep Jose healthy by leaving him at DH while offering a big defensive upgrade.

As much as everybody wants to shake things up, the solution is to just let the best players play. We've actually played OK the past couple weeks. We've won 6 of the last 12, the pitching is looking great, the offense isn't great but it's been OK. I think it's time for the panic of the first week of September to subside. We don't need to make drastic changes to the lineup.

Barney is not a very bad hitter. He's hitting 269 this year. I would rather see him bat than upton.
