ST: Yankees @ Jays - September 23rd-26th

Post#1 » by a_child » Fri Sep 23, 2016 12:38 am

Game 1: Friday, September 23rd

7:07PM first pitch
Bryan Mitchell (1-1, 6.00 ERA) vs. Fransisco Liriano (7-13, 5.08 ERA)

Game 2: Saturday, September 24th

4:07PM first pitch
CC Sabathia (8-12, 4.19 ERA) vs. Marcus Stroman (9-9, 4.50 ERA)

Game 3: Sunday, September 25th

1:07PM first pitch
Michael Pineda (6-11, 4.89 ERA) vs. Marco Estrada (9-9, 3.62 ERA)

Game 4: Monday, September 26th

7:07PM first pitch
Luis Severino (3-8, 5.70 ERA) vs. JA Happ (20-4, 3.28 ERA)

The Blue Jays will look to strengthen their grip on a Wild Card spot while the Yankees will be trying to stay alive when the two teams meet Friday night at Rogers Centre.

Toronto enters this series in possession of a spot in the postseason, but with the race still extremely tight, there is little margin for error. New York was a serious contender as recently as last week, but it will need a big series vs. the Blue Jays if the club has any hope of extending its season.

Lets keep winning series, pls guise

The wild card race has gotten really tight with the Tigers, Orioles and Astros all breathing down our necks. A series loss here could see us out of playoff position entirely. Please don't choke guys.

Things I learned today. The Jays are now the oldest team in MLB ahead of even the Yankees.

Yanks throwing out CC then Pineda in games 2 & 3. Tanak has a forearm strain and won't pitch this weekend.
That's what she said.

There's a theory out there that if the Jays win game 1 that the Yanks will shut down Tanaka and perhaps the other vets and go with kids for the remainder of the series.

So game 1 of this series might be as important as any game they've played this season.

Last year's team would be scoring 10 runs a game against that scrub pitching staff.

We better take at least 3/4.

Of the 10 games remaining - How many do you think we need to win to secure a post-season birth?

Well we have 1.5 game margin on being completely ****, so we would probably get away with 6. Even if we go 5-5 Bmore has to go 7-2 to tie us correct?

We have played one less game than the **** and the Astros, and the same number Tigers and Mariners.

yeah, I think 5 wins would most likely grab a spot...6 would get them in for sure.

I'm going to just try and enjoy these last 10 games after so many years, prior to last year obviously, of just hoping for meaningful games in September. Especially considering even if they do get one of the wildcards, there is basically a 50% chance the season ends the next game.

I think the fact they made the playoffs and a relatively deep run last year helps make it a bet less of a disappointment if they were to miss completely or lose the wildcard game, not that I'm not still hoping for a hot run through the playoffs to the World Series.

Was obviously a tough play for Martin, but seems like nobody on this team can make a big play when needed lately.

35 1st inning pitches thrown... At this rate Liriano isn't going to last 4 innings

Bunt by Travis seems like an odd move
